I hooked up my SNES some weeks ago and played Super Mario Kart.
And it's funny how much more challenging that game is.
If you are racing in the back of the field, you really don't get back in front as easily as in later Mario Karts.

The tracks are more challenging too.

I haven't played MK Wii yet.

Yes there is a difference between being able to get back into the pack (perhaps even win) in a hectic race... and not being able to catch up in a game where there is very little going on and the tracks are empty.
If you get behind the pack at the beginning of GBA Bowsers castle (a track similar to SNES ones) it is very difficult to get back in front of the main pack... never mind win.

The thing some people are still not getting is the difference between 1 race and many races.

As some have mentioned, people like Rol have win:loss ratios that are entirely in their favour (I believe I have the closest ratio with Rol, and it's about 240:190 in his favour) yes sometimes we miss out on winning a race, or perhaps in extreme cases will finish in the bottom half of a race, but over a number of races we will come out on top (or 2nd if Rol is there)

My win:loss ratios are all in my favour except for against Rol... and ignoring the ones that are inconclusive (less than 10 races between us) there is only 1 person who has won me more than half of what I have won them (which means for every 3 races I win at least 2 with everyone but Brawl4life [and Rol])
