PS3 has already sealed its fate for 3rd place this gen, and there will be little that can change that, even a knock off Wiimote. Sony's implementation seems to be little more than an afterthought, and a sort of "me too!" statement to draw in some third party support that might have otherwised been drawn to Wii. Other than that, this thing will have little significance to the PS3's success. Accessory add ons tend to perform poorly, and that's essentially what the Sony wand is.

Nintendo has this gen locked up, barring an unprecedented collapse. Now next gen may be a different story. But I believe by then Nintendo will have thought up a new disruptive technology which will again differenciate themselves from Sony, which Sony will again copy midway through the console cycle, keeping them on their heels trying to catch nintendo again, rinse and repeat.

I can't stress this enough though, it is VERY important that Nintendo comes up with something brand new for next gen like the Wii to differenciate themselves otherwise they WILL be outgunned by Sony and MS. They need to continue to create new innovative ideas and not try to fight in any existing market for too long or they will be out marketted by the giants Sony and MS who will continue to copy them. However, as long as Nintendo continues this cycle of new innovations for their hardware that appeals to the masses/non gamers, they should remain on top.
