Using a statistical sample. The methodology is in the link I gave above.
What this is telling us is that the average X360 owner uses their console twice as much as the average Wii owner. That shouldn't be too surprising.
The only thing I find lacking about the statistics, I'd be interested to know if Wii tends to have more users per household.
