In another thread, people were talking about moderators editing posts, and the thread got closed. Rather than start a new thread to respond, I'll respond here.

Mods should be very careful about editing posts, and only do it if it's absolutely necessary. If someone's spamming the boards with porn links or other ads, or if someone is just posting random vulgarity, that's a good time to edit or erase the post, but I don't think there are many other good times. Even if someone is harshly criticizing the site or the moderators, you will lose far more credibility by editing their posts than you could gain by simply politely disagreeing and using proper arguments.

I moderate another message forum with half a million posts, and a few years ago we had a mod who liked to edit his own posts and the posts of anyone who criticized him. He got fired and banned pretty quickly once the site administrator found out. I don't want to see that happen here.

Carry on. :)
