I only upgraded because I despise Vista but now I'm really glad I did.

And the reason I despise Vista is only because every time I either wanted to put my laptop in hibernate or shutdown, I had to tell it to go in hibernate twice or shut it down twice (I would tell it to do either of those and the first time it would just restart). It was pretty aggravating because I would be done with the laptop and close the lid and often times it would just restart and then the screen wouldn't always turn off causing it to get really hot.

I tried everything I could short of reformatting the machine and reinstalling Vista. I updated BIOS, tried restoring, updated video drivers and all other drivers, took everything away from startup, and did everything I could after scouring Google for days and nothing fixed it. I installed Windows 7 and now it all works fine so I'm happy.

Now the real test will be to see how well W7 works on my crummy PC but from the looks of your post it looks like it might do well.

-edit-

Though I do have two complaints about Vista and W7

  1. UAC - I actually want to keep it on but I wish I could build a safe list so it doesn't ask me every time I start a program from an unkown publisher.
  2. I hate having to right click everything and tell it to run as administrator rather than just starting it.
