Seeing as this is one of my most eagerly awaited title of 09 I naturally gobbled up every piece of information I could find, so when IGN did an extended playtest, I devour their preview with relish.

One note that caught my attention in particular was the conclusion:

...here is something about White Knight Chronicles that is compelling enough to see you through to the end. You'll be left with memories of faraway places, exotic races, and an online community that, so far at least, is welcoming and friendly. And that's just the beginning: White Knight Chronicles is just the first part of a planned trilogy which will eventually encompass over a hundred hours of gaming. It's a pretty decent start.

Now I am no omniscient, but I am fairly certainly that I’ve never heard of WKC being part of a trilogy, and considering Level-5 have stated previously that they will be focusing their effort on the Wii and handhelds after WKC I doubt it will occur anytime soon.

IGN threw the last line as if it was a given fact, so perhaps this was information that is very dated (E3 06?) or just plain incorrect. Whatever the case, I am sure any plans for sequel to this game will be based largely on its reception; it would be interesting to see how they approach this.

Considering the online aspect, there is a plethora of avenue that L5 can pursue for any sequels or even major DLC expansions ala Shivering Isle.

Let’s hope IGN is right.
