Wrong! Enix has never created Dragon Quest only published it. Chunsoft, Heart Beat are mostly the 2 main devs who worked at the DQ series until DQVIII. Square Enix now only takes care of the spin off games like Dragon Quest Monsters, Dragon Quest Swords, Dragon Quest Heroes, main game have always been developed by others.

Armor Project ( Horii Studio ) design Dragon Quest games, the other ( Chunsoft, Heartbeat, Level5 ) are code-monkeys.

 

Rather talented codemonkeys I might add. Whoever is making DQX, it will be a very good dev. It's one of two key SE franchises, they won't give it anyone.

 

Well not really the only time a (non-remake ) Dragon Quest was technology on par with the best technical production on a system was with Dragon Quest VI ( HeartBeat but they sucked at 3D ) and Dragon Quest VIII ( Level5 ) and now Dragon Quest IX ( developed by Level5 ).

You ( I ) don't buy DQ games for tech but for the "charm"/"magic" of the scenario designed by Armor Project ( and this is why took so long every time to develop a DQ game ).
