Star Wars The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels is a missed opportunity to do much more on Wii -- and strangely, it feels in many ways like a dumbed-down version of Force Unleashed, which came out first. Krome Studios has recreated the less compelling Clone Wars universe complete with high production values, from clean graphics to lots of audio work, but the gameplay experience is lackluster. This is mostly true because of a forced gesture system that is clearly doing nothing more than replacing buttons and not really using the Wii remote in any beneficial way. Kids might enjoy all the shaking, but nobody else will, especially when the prospect of really, truly wielding the Wii remote like a lightsaber lays just over the horizon.

Rating Description

6.5 Presentation
Looks and sounds like the movie and TV series. Barren user interface and not many characters to choose from.
7.0 Graphics
Pretty good in-game engine with characters that look like their movie counterparts. While animation is stiff, the lighting and particle effects look good.
7.5 Sound
Lots of voice work, but it's a little hammy and lines inevitably repeat.
5.0 Gameplay
Waggle just for the sake of waggle. Doesn't add anything to the experience. Kids might still like the shake-fest controls, but everybody else will tire of the setup quickly.
4.0 Lasting Appeal
A short single-player campaign. There's a multiplayer mode, but with so few characters and uninspired controls, all but dedicated young players should probably skip it.
5.3
Mediocre
