the ps3 has definitely not been owning the 360. it has done a good job selling more than the 360 though. it looked inevitable that the ps3 was gonna pass the 360 in overall sales by 2010 since it won every single week for the first 3/4ths of this year. but the 360 price cut has stopped the ps3 comeback in its tracks. i think they will split the holidays pretty evenly and while ps3 will have won this year over 360 by over a million units, stopping the ps3 after the first half of the year i'd say is a win for 360 this gen. if 360 finishes this gen with more sales than ps3 it wins. all it has to do is slow ps3's comeback enough so that 360 won't end up in 3rd this gen.
