I wouldn't go so far as to say console gaming has no chance... console games are selling like hotcakes, and not everyone wants to mod-out games to the nth degree.
But for that one game, Oblivion, I would love to mod it to the extreme and see just how far the environment can be taken. I seriously hope Bethesda is paying attention to the Oblivion mods when they start working on Elder Scrolls V.
