It's funny how you state that people eat an unnatural amount of meat then you mention becoming a vegan. Human beings can not survive without the vitamin B12 provided by meat, eggs and milk. Without supplements it is not possible to live as a vegan. The average American's gluttony does not change the fact that eating meat is both natural and healthy.

Marmite is packed full of B12. A tiny 4g has 60% of B12 RDA. If you eat marmite then you'll know you only need a small amount. I usually eat bran flakes with soymilk everyday at work. This alone has 200% RDA of B12 in it. I know it's been fortified but it's not a separate supplement. A lot of foods are fortified now. Breakfast cereals, bread, pasta, margarines and milk. I also eat a lot of quorn which is high in protein and recently discovered quinoa. It's a grain that has complete protein so all the amino acids you need. I'm a seasoned vegetarian BTW.
