mrstickball said: Even though everyone here is saying that 3rd parties are doing "great" for the Wii, they are only doing "great" compared to the PS3, but not the 360 in the US. Let me get some numbers after bit to show this. Also, the VAST majority of 3rd party games in Japan have bombed or near bombed. Don't quote me, but I dont think a single 3rd party game has reached 100k yet in Japan. Just a quick note.....Red Steel has yet to sell 500k in Japan + US combined. GRAW outsold that in the US alone in 1 month. Guess thats why the next Splinter Cell is 360 exclusive, hunh?
Here is a fair comparison:
XBox 360 third party games as of february 2006: (XBox 360) Call of Duty 2 - Activision - 837,000 (XBox 360) Madden NFL 06 - EA - 456,500 (XBox 360) Need for Speed: Most Wanted - 342,000 (XBox 360) Condemned: Criminal Origins - Sega - 206,750 (XBox 360) Dead or Alive 4 - Tecmo - 170,750 (XBox 360) Quake 4 - Activision - 170,250 (XBox 360) NBA Live 06 - EA -157,750 (XBox 360) NBA 2K6 - Take 2 - 152,000 (XBox 360) Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 - EA - 142,500 (XBox 360) Gun - Activision - 138,250 (XBox 360) Fight Night Round 3 - EA - 122,500 (XBox 360) Full Auto - Sega - 54,000
The XBox 360 did have better third party game sales, but I think it is fair to say that the XBox 360 at this point in time had much higher quality third party releases and much weaker first party games ... To demonstrate my point on First Party Games (Microsoft as of February 2006): (Wii) The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - Nintendo - 1,419,750 (PS3) Resistance: Fall of Man - Sony - 579,250 (XBox 360) Perfect Dark Zero - Microsoft - 452,500 (Wii) Wii Play - Nintendo - 406,250 (Wii) Warioware: Smooth Moves - Nintendo - 376,000 (XBox 360) Project Gotham 3 - Microsoft - 267,250 (Wii) Excite Truck - Nintendo - 210,500 (XBox 360) Kameo: Elements of Power - Microsoft - 174,250
