Carmack - Sony's restrictions on third-party ports

I still don't see the problem here, except that you want a reason to bash on Sony for making a business decision.  If it doesn't work out for them, they simply change it or they don't get as many titles.  Remember when you said:

"I think people have too much information for their own good nowadays!"

It applies here.  Maybe you know too much about how Sony's business works in the real world.  Maybe you don't know enough.  People get together in meetings, work out a deal, and if it falls through so be it.  There is nothing new or amazing about this or any other practice.  Maybe Sony's selling point is that people might buy the game twice to get extra content thereby increasing the sales for the developer.  You don't know.  Again, they have to find a way to get people to buy their game, on their console.  If it's the same game that's available on the 360, then why the hell would someone want to go out and buy it on the PS3?  Sony could be seeing that they will not dominate again as they did in the past.  They are likely gunning for the equivalent sales angle and assume that somewhere down the line, people will own both consoles.  The way I look at it, you are only receiving this small bit of information on a strategy that could be a lot bigger than you know about.  It's kind of like trying to figure out that the General on the other side of the hill is doing with his army when all you can see is a small group of scouts on the hill.

I'm also pretty sure Sony is kicking in some help in each of these games.  If the developer listens... that's another story.  Carmack sounds like he doesn't really listen.  I'd blame his ego for that.
