Forums - Microsoft - E3 2009: Microsoft Promises Transformational Show

Your xbox becomes totally interactive giving the user the ability to touch and smell everything on the screen. MS figured that virtual reality was not dead, and have been developing said technologies for a number of years now. The new Microsoft "JoyBox" will retail for 159.99.

Joybox = fail

Agreed. E3 should be quite exciting this year. I think there will be enough surprises from everyone to make all three console owners very happy.

It better be big or this goes down in history as one of the most ridiculous PR speeches ever.

Well, I think it could be transformational in two ways. They could finally show some games that would have big appeal to all gamers thus transforming the image of the xbox line being just for mature or just for hardcore or just for shooter fans that have plagued xbox consoles since 2001.

Or they could announce the 720 and the reason that it has been so quite lately on the 360 game development front would be because key developers have been working behind the scenes on 720 games and they will finally be unveiled at E3.

But, I wasn't anticipating the next xbox for a bit longer, but if you do look at the changing of the guard from original xbox to 360, then you will see that the 360 is in a similar spot in its lifetime now to when the 360 was announced in 2005 (4 years into the consoles lifetime, Halo 2 released November 2004, Gears 2 released November 2008, etc.)

I see a lot of snide remarks here (aren't you all sooOOooOOoo clever), but how can you not be a gamer and be a bit excited about what could possibly cause him to make a statement with such swagger? I'm chomping at the bit.

For the record, I'm quite POSITIVE that all 3 will TRULY show up for E3 this year (and a number of 3rd parties as well). Too many secrets being had. Too bad of an E3 last year.

Be prepared for the single biggest event in gaming history.

Its fun, thats why. swagger is the very def. of Sony and MS's behaviour all gen. despite getting their ass handed to them by Nintendo.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Halo 4, 5, and 6 announced?!?!?!?

**** yeah baby!

"completely transform how people think about home entertainment."
the X720 announced with BR drive and internet browser?

but seriously, how are they going to transform the way I think?
Are they going to provide mind altering substances at the show?
