Forums - Microsoft Discussion - GDC: Rockstar should have had more ‘realistic expectations’ for The Lost and Damned, says Pachter

Notice that he doesn't discuss any range of what WAS expected...Another thing is that if M$ and Rockstar were smart, they would release The DLC and the full game on disc in the fall to go along with the explosion of new holiday season 360 owners...then get another million downloads on the next DLC...pop pop pop in profits. Let's be realistic here...Lost and the Damn is nothing more than a mod...so wrt to level of effort, Rockstar couldn't have spent very much money on it's development...

Microsoft has already stated that it broke the record for first day sales, how is that not a good expectation. Also Microsoft has a policy where they don't release any info on DLC sales, if they haven't released numbers in the past why do you expect them to do so with Lost and Damned.

this guy uses pretty crude language for a "professional" analyst
seriously
“It’s not like The Lost and Damned sucked," is not the type of language a professional uses to describe product quality
is this guy ever going to get fired?

! million download in a month @ $20 a pop? When you were reported to have been paid $25 million per DLC? What math is this clown using...? If Rockstar isn't happy with GTA's performance and the DLC on 360, they are crazy, but somehow, this is pachter, so you can take his statements with a grain of salt...

Where did that number come from?

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Would the DLC even fit on a disk with GTAIV. Most 360 disks are nearing capacity already.
The Lost and Damned was an attempt to get people to use Live. Its a big bet by MS and we wont find out for a while if it worked or not.

That was Pachter's number, strangely enough.

The PC version of GTA4 is nearly 16gig (got it on steam). But dont forget the PC version needs more data due to having diffence textures qualitys, diffence resoultion sizes and other stuff the PC version has.  But im suprized it all fitted on the 360 disk.

That's my point.  People are quoting Pacther's original estimate as truth to disprove his latest theory that it is under-performing expectations.  We will probably never know how well it sold or didn't sell.

What a moron!
