I've played all of them in chronological order and my choice couldn't be anything else than Code Veronica!!!Best storyline,atmosphere,characters...RE 1 comes very close since it was my first contact with survival horror games and a huge step forward when it was released.RE4 was a great game too but come on...50%?i think most of the people voting for it have not played the first games of the series..

It's a toss up for me between Re4 and the Remake.

It doesn't get better than RE3, that game had everything, classic Resident Evil playability, multiple paths, replayability, and a hell of an enemy. That scene were Nemesis jumps through the wall on the Clocktower still scares the hell out of me these days XD

Resident Evil 2 was the first one that I played on the N64, and was by far the best game in the series to me. After that I would probably say Remake, followed by 4 and finally CV. I never could get interested in either Resident Evil 0 or 3 for some reason or another.

Code Veronica (DC), or REmake.

This one is a No-brainer. my favorite would be Code Veronica (I got the PS2 version). it has the best cast, best story, best enemies (damn I hate that snatcher), AND the BEST soundtrack out of the entire series. (strangely, RE4 has the worst OST). definetly made me wet my pants.
