Who cares, it's an RPG...

Don't you guys remember how low the frame rate was on Final Fantasy X on the PS2?

It's a good RPG, not great but then there is no great RPG these days.

I beg to differ with the last sentence.  Persona 4 and Valkyria Chronicles were both great RPG's from my own personal experience, and from talking to friends ToV is great as well.

Aww, you have cool friends. Barely any of my friends play RPGs, let alone Tales =/

Also, Baggins, you are HORRIBLY wrong.

well by "friends" I meant Naznatips, and some guys on VGC whose opinions I respect when it comes to RPG's.  I'm afraid to say this, but I don't have any friends in real life.

Fixed. haha j/p

OT: It's a pretty cool game. It's a game of chance at some points during battles. I still enjoyed it and will go back and finish it some day.

lol.

Meh, everyone here likes shooters...

I know what you mean.  Other than my brother and his friends, I don't really know anyone in real life that really likes RPGs.  One of my friends could pass as liking some RPGs but it is mostly Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy.  All of the other gamers are know in real life are all about Halo, Call of Duty, and Gears of War.

TLR doesn't really seem like a bad game.  It just suffers from a lack of polish.  Also, I heard mixed opinions about the story which comments ranging from the story being very good to the story being cliched.  One reviewer(1UP/EGM) even thought TLR's story just makes no sense and suffered from poor pacing

*sniff* that's just too mean.  I'm going to go roll a D6 to see how depressed I am and then cry in my Inuyasha pillow case.

...

i lov this game

Didn't last remnant use the unreal engine? How can the same engine that produced the gears series on 360 and is often held in high regard in terms of 360 development produce so many bugs? I can only imagine how buggy the ps3 version would be if it releases while I'm still alive lol.

You've got to take into account that Epic developed the engine who also developed GOW1\2. Also developers are using it as a quick fix "1 size fits all" solution, it seems to be good with FPS games as to be expected. But has some problems with RPGs, also to be expected.

Look at Mass Effect, top game...but slow down\pop in aplenty.

I can't see this being "fixed" for the PS3. More likely it will be worse and if your very lucky the same.

I'll be straight, I don't care too much for the PS3 but I'm just saying how it is from a chance perspective by previous games.

Not a terrible game, but pretty average. Looking back now I probably wouldn't spend $60 on the game. If you can get it for half that price, then by all means go for it.

Yes, TLR uses UE3.

I did a bit of research, and backtracking with licensees of the Unreal Engine. What it boils down to is that A LOT of studios use UE3 once, and rarely ever again. Most developer's first UE3 game has been pretty shoddy in terms of what it did from a technical standpoint: Lost Odyssey, The Last Remnant, Mass Effect, are all UE3 games...And the first time it was used to create a game by that studio. Lost Odyssey is the best of the lot, but still quite a ways away from the better UE3 games.

On the other end, you have Gears of War (Epic) and Bioshock (2k Marin/Austrailia) which were technically brilliant...Both studios have had multiple titles developed on the UE platform...Obviously, Epic made UE3 which gives them an even bigger edge.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

cool I will get it now, its dirt cheap

If you like ogre battle 64 type games then its great.

alot of technical issues but if you dont care that much like me then its a good game.

ive put alot of time into it

Ogrebattle 64 was amazing is this game honestly anything like it?  I'll buy an arcade right now if it's the same strategy/rpg elements as an ogrebattle game lol.
