The confirmation of a new Zelda and Mario was in the conference- it was just very subtle, and very easy to miss. It lasted all of five seconds, and Reggie said it- "the teams are working once again" which is Ninty code for "they're making sequels but they arent ready to show off yet"

No, it means those teams are making games--nothing more, nothing less.
Infering that direct sequels are coming especially considering Nintendo's "one main Mario game per generation" approach is foolish.

Except that "the Zelda team only works on Zelda games" according to Miyamoto, and I'm thinking the same is true for the Mario Team. Besides, we've seen more than one Mario game per generation already: two on the SNES and two on the NES. They're coming.

Ownage haha. I don't know where Wisdom was tryign to go with that haha.
Personally I think people overreacted as well. I mean core gamers may have got the shaft on what games were shown but definetly did not lack huge announcements. In reality NIntendo gave the core gamers the most big announcements. 1:1 control with Wii MotionPlus. A Wii Speaker so we can finally chat online. Animal Crossing and Wii Sports Resort are both games that core gamers like even though some aspects are for the casual. Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown for DS. Spore Creatures and Pokemon Ranger detailed for the DS. And for the first time Clone Wars Wars and CoD: World at War shown off for the Wii. I mean the only thing Wii gamers could have saw disappointment in was that the show was slow, didn't show off a long sleuth of games, and of course Wii Music kinda being a drag. Otherwise core gamers got big announcements on Wii.
You can bet your ass if Kid Icarus was shown at the end of that show, people would be going around saying that Nintendo won E3 haha. It's just they didn't end well, but overall the show gave a lot of huge announcements. I enjoyed all of them, and hopefully WiiMusic will be adapted to have some kind of progressive difficult so that the core will like it as well.
