Forums - Gaming Discussion - What are some games you would like to see in a different Genre?

And could they actually pull it off?

Could a Zelda game be turned into a RTS game?

Could Mario's world become a FPS?

We know Mario has been turned into an RPG in the past and Zelda has done Hyrule warriors.

Crash Bandicoot has done Racing, the sky is the limit!

But can they pull it off?

I would like to see Star Fox racing! Not really a Kart racer, but a racing game I think would be fun.

Pilot Wings as an adventure game, that includes flying or even an Adventure/Sim mix?

Don't judge me if my ideas have already been done and I just have not seen them.

"We all make choices, but in the end, our choices make us" - Andrew Ryan, Bioshock.

Pokemon Warriors is what I want.

A Kirby RPG would be great too

Super Smash Bros as a tactical RPG would be cool. At very least, you'd have a good excuse to include a dozen Fire Emblem reps.

The Witcher as a true RPG. I feel it's action open world right now with RPG emelemts but as with the series evolution into open world I'd hope they evolve the RPG elements into true RPG with traits, classes or Job backgrounds (like a Witcher or someone from the Lodge for example) and CRPG level choices with the staple interwoven quests, killable NPC's that result in lost content, complex dialogue trees, skill checks and all that good stuff. The lore is there, everything is on paper they just need to find a way to make it work and I know it likely won't work from a character creator menu like Skyrim but there are options. Something like Dragon Age/Larian studios games with set characters would be cool, you start in different locations but the stories converge (and hopefully diverge also). Just keep Ciri as the central character the story is woven around and it's roses.

Also, Metal Gear Solid as a mech game, we seen a bit of how it'd work in MGS 4 and I'm surprised they didn't make it. Armoured core but with Metal gear mech designs and story. Chefs kiss.

StarCraft as a third person shooter! With all 3 factions playable.

Nintendo/Retro turned Metroid into an FPS and Ubisoft turned Mario and Rabbids into a turn based tactics strategy game. Anything is possible.

I'd like to see Mass Effect as a pure turn based RPG.

I present you "The Witcher TRPG", tabletop RPG rules for Witcher:

So if anyone ever decides to go the route of CRPG with Witcher, underlying system is already there.

As for current action-RPG that is Witcher, yeah, it becoming actual action-RPG instead of this edge case between action-RPG and action-pseudo-RPG would be really great - there are so many things that do not work in Witcher 3 as open world action-RPG, and why I still prefer Witcher 2 as a way of telling Geralt's story.

That's sort of what Starcraft: Ghost was supposed to be though it had just 1 playable character.
