Forums - Gaming Discussion - The best genre bending games

I don't even know what Cathrine is. It is sort of a puzzle climbing game. But in the story, these are just your nightmares. And it does have a strong narrative drive. Also, you constantly socialise in a bar (social sim?). Even its tone is a wild mix of horror, noire and comedy.

Found another. Cat Quest 3 is switching things up.

I was also thinking about Blast Corps on N64. It’s quite a unique game with elements from all kinds of genres.

Does Earthworm Jim count?

I'm not sure, never played. But I doubt it, it's a brawler, no?

It's a fighting game. There weren't many fighting games like it before.

I'm playing Like A Dragon right now and just remembered that Yakuza or at least Yakuza 0 falls into this category cause you get the two management sims along with it already being a whavky style brawler mixed with a dramatic style story. I'm not far into Like A Dragon but I know Infinite Wealth is another genre bending title.

Yeah, I suppose it kinda counts. Loosely.
