I think a significant number of people were picking up a Series X because they couldn’t find a PS5. Since that was no longer the case last year, there was a shift away from Xbox. But it’s a one time thing so we shouldn’t see that kind of drop this year again (at least not for that reason). I also think they have a solid lineup that can push sales, primarily with Indy but also Hellblade.

The flip side would be if many Xbox games get PS5 versions announced or if the speculation pushes people toward PS5. That could absolutely do damage to Xbox hardware.

Rumored/leaks/datamined:

Sea of Thieves
Halo Infinite
Master Chief Collection
Hi-Fi Rush
Hellblade
Gears of War Collection

Are heading for Playstation 5. You think this will have a effect on xbox sales?

Of wow. I had only heard about Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush and maybe Flight Sim. Are the other rumors credible? Well, if that’s true I’d say it’s the beginning of the end for Xbox hardware.

Where is the Halo Infinite and Master Chief Collection leak?

Is that just an assumption because Sony bought Bungie?

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 160 million (was 120 million, then 140 million, then 150 million)

PS5: 130 million (was 124 million)

Xbox Series X/S: 54 million (was 60 million, then 57 million)

I wouldn't put much credibility on it since it was someone in twitter (he may have confused the forecast for 2023 as their full production).

Since in a few days we will get Nintendo results for the 23 fiscal year and perhaps forecast for 24 we will have an idea of how confident they are on it passing PS2.

Wait isn't the 2023 FY ending on March 31 2024?
I think you just meant the results from 2023.

Is the FY 2024 forecast released in the Q3 report on Feb 6?

You are right my friend. Sorry for the confusion. Got mixed with calendar year.

All good. :)
That would've be cool to get forecasts early.

I guess we'll have to wait until May.

I also am interested to see how much was shipped by the end of Dec 31 2023.

At most for a Q3 report I could imagine is revised forecast for Q4/Year total if there were any extra/lower expectations.

PS5: 18m
Switch: 10m
Xbox Series: 7m.

It's likely all three end up being down this year. Xbox Series has Activision Blizzard games being added to Game Pass and hopefully a better received game lineup to help it be closer to 8m than 7m but even with that I wouldn't be surprised if it's still down a tad.

Charts have been updated. Don't forget to vote on the poll!

The following comparison has been changed:

  • XBOX Series 2024 vs Nintendo Switch 2024

to:

  • XBOX Series 2024 vs Nintendo Switch 2024 in USA

Since it's clear and obvious that the worldwide numbers are doubled for the Switch and will most likely continue that way or similar, against the XBSX, while the US ones are way closer and interesting to follow.

I am predicting over 22 million just because I am pro PS5 and have seen xbox going downhill for most of theyear.

Numbers updated and adjusted with WEEK 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 for every comparison! All charts are updated too!

The following comparison:

  • XBOX Series vs XB360'13 (6.3M) vs PS3'13 (8.2M)

has been changed to:

  • XBOX Series vs XB360'13 (6.3M) vs XB1'20 (4M)

Because it's obvious with weeks going down to 60k, the XBSX isn't making 8M this year. So the previous bottom is now the top, and the new bottom is 4M.
