Nice to see both the PS5 and Switch slowly reducing the percent gap compared to 2021. Xbox has been losing its lead but it's still up almost a third which is really nice.

All Time Video Game Hardware Sales List:

1) PlayStation 2 (PS2) - 158,700,000 (155,000,000+ according to Sony) Mar. 31st, 2012

2) Nintendo DS (DS) - 154,020,000

3) Game Boy (GB/GBC) - 118,690,000

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4) PlayStation 4 (PS4) - 116,965,109 (117,000,000+ according to Sony) - Mar. 31st, 2022

5) Nintendo Switch (NS) - 110,405,700 (107,650,000 according to Nintendo) - Mar. 31st, 2022

PS5 + Xbox Series sales combined are still down YOY, but hopefully that changes as PS5 claws back its deficit and XS continues to show strong growth.

Bet with Liquidlaser: I say PS5 and Xbox Series will sell more than 56 million combined by the end of 2023. (And over 130 million lifetime)

Also just noticed; total hardware YTD is actually up over 2019, largely thanks to Xbox Series being up by around 2.5 million compared to its predecessor.

I did a small adjustment for the PS5 following Sony's 21.7M shipped report. I updated the main weekly hardware article to reflect the change. PS5 went from 20.85M sold as of July 2 to 20.94M. Sales as of July 16 went from 21.25M to 21.35M. Sony did announce 20M sold at the end of May/beginning of June. So not many weeks could be adjusted and we have the data for the US, UK, most of mainland Europe, and Japan.

Week ending July 23 will see a decent boost to PS5 sales in the Americas and Europe looking at the data available. In the US, there was a decent size amount of PS5's at GameStop on the 23rd.

UK and French charts for the week also showed Horizon: Forbidden West shoot up to first indicating more PS5's with the game bundled were available. In the UK, Chris from GamesIndustry mentioned sales for the game jumped 120% driven by the PS5 bundle.

I haven't run the numbers, but I wouldn't be surprised if PS5 sales are close to or around 300K for the week to bring our sell-through sales up to around 21.65M on July 23. 3-4 weeks to ship consoles is fairly typical.
