Forums - Sony Discussion - (Rumor - Jason Schreier) PlayStation Plans New Service to Take On Xbox Game Pass?

Sounds like PS now, PS+ and NSO like (if they manage to run their older games locally) combined. If they don't put their 1st party games, day one to that platform then it's not GamePass-like

Why do you want Sony to charge 249 a year instead what gp is offering?...

Same reason I prefer more palatable restaurants vs fast food. A Big Mac here and there, but otherwise I'll pay more for what I deem better quality.

Now if a nice restaurant can offer the same quality for fast food prices, I'm all for it, but that's highly unlikely for many reasons.

So then my original point and post still stand. That is unless you can show me how the quality of games are going down with GP..

I mean its not nice to see people think they "Have" to pay more for the exact same service just to feel good about themselves when like i said them company's dont give a damn about you.

Yes I know, and how many of these rumors have we had in recent past that were totally wrong? Most of them I would guess.

Depends on what you mean by these? Are you referring to reports by Jason Schreier?

I may be mistaking him for some other journalist but I do remember several wrong rumors the past few months.

Here you go with the food analogies again lol. Are you really saying Xbox Game Studios/GP this year have been comparable to fast food when games like Flight Sim=90 meta, Psychonauts 2=87, Age of Empires IV=81, Forza Horizon 5=92(highest rated new game this year), Halo Infinite=87 have all reviewed very well? Looks like the fast-food restaurant has beat out fine dining restaurant this year .

You agree with all the scores? You think they all land exactly where they should? No score is quite off the mark from where it 'should be'?

Is the price of GP exactly where it should be? If it could be cheaper, people are being ripped off and that's said to be a problem.

A fast food chain can't legitimately say, 'the last 4 new menu items have all been higher quality than our regular menu (and most everything else we sell), based on the opinion of 'professional' reviewers, so we're no longer fast food and are a fancy restaurant chain now.'

Nobody would buy that marketing BS. It may help the brand image and sales, but nobody is going to start dressing up for 'fine dining' at Taco Bell.

You of course went with $250, even though I pointed out that's the absolute most I figured they could get away with based on those offerings. I wouldn't actually assume it would end up quite that much, but even if it did, I think it would still work for them well enough.

Again, I'm all for a PS service as cheap as it can possibly be, but if that means PS title quality drops, or the company takes it to the extreme simply because, 'it's the right thing to do', and ends up going bankrupt, well what good would that have really done?

I also agreed with you. SNY nor MS give a damn in the end. So why aren't you complaining about the GP overpricing?

I haven't played AOEIV or the Halo Infinite campaign, but from what I have played, I think the scores reflect the product, give or take a point. If you are trying to insinuate if these games are comparable to fast-food, ie mediocre, then I would probably think you haven't played any of these games.

The price is more than fair for what it offers. Vast majority of Game Pass users would agree they certainly get their money's worth. I mean, it is cheaper if you look around. I got a years' worth of GPU for a little over a $100 on Black Friday. The Gold to Ultimate conversion still works and there are $1 deals for new users or those who wait some time to renew. I don't think anyone who actually uses the service would say they are being "ripped off." Quite the opposite actually.

How someone can feel ripped off by gamepass is so out there. But how they can compare Gamepass to fast food is even more out there.

Clearly this user has never used gamepass, but from what i can see in this thread he would be very happy with paying 200 and up for the same service. And if you look in other threads he has posted in about gamepass he clearly has a thing for comparing it to fast food.

On a random note, I hope the BC games have trophy support (w/ platinums) if they're going the emulation route.

Do all game scores, for every single game ever scored, match perfectly to where they should? Does anyone else think that's not the case?

The initial point was paying too much for PS GP. How do you know that MS GP is as cheap as it could possibly be? What if it's not?

How anyone could think any amount of suggested money was a rip off for a leaked service that doesn't exist yet would seem quite out there.

Clearly this user hasn't followed the thread/conversation, and I can tell because earlier I said I wouldn't use the service if Plus was kept separate.

If you look in other threads where I once made this comparison, you'd see recently it was posted that there's an article that coincidentally uses a very similar comparison between Doom and Infinite.

I don't think this is being done to compete with gamepass. I think this is being done just to improve their overall service. They wont be releasing their new games day 1 they've already stated this is not financially viable for them.

I remember a past feature that Sony was working on that was also being touted as their answer to GP and that's not what it was at all.

I'm fine with Sony not releasing their First party games , All I want is a service with plenty of japanese games , IE 3rd party , the other thing I want is a backdoor pricing like Xbox Gamepass has a backdoor like promotions, Sony should do first 3 months is 5$ for new accounts , like what Microsoft does with new subs 1$ for 1 month , What you need is to Entice your audiance with low paying subscription in the beginning , instead of the 1$ for 1 month deal like Microsoft , just do 3 months for 5$ might pay 4$ more but 3 months sounds about right.

Cute and honest Sega Saturn fan, also noone should buy Sega grrrr, Sega for life.
