What are the "more options" today than PS2 era ? Cause back then we had 4 home consoles, 3 handhelds, PC and mobile gaming. Now we have 2 home consoles, 1 hybrid, PC and mobile gaming. And there is no correlation between software sales and reliability. And do you really think PS2 reach 157 million on defective issues ? I mean, every point you made is absolutely wrong, I don't know how it's even possible |
More options may not have been the proper term but what I meant to say is Mobile and PC gaming have increased in size compared to back then. The options in mobile gaming back then didnt have the likes of Fortnite, PUBG, Call of Duty etc among the million other games on the app and play stores. People that owned multiple consoles or handhelds back then dont need to do so anymore as technology has advanced.
People may dislike mobile gaming but no denying that it is HUGE and its taken a portion of the casual gamers all to itself.
Same thing with PC for the above mentioned games as well as indie's exploding, Microsoft and Sony releasing games for it as well as third parties supporting it even more.
As for reaching 157 in defective, it didnt reach it only on that basis of defective units only but no denying that PS2 wasnt as reliable back then as consoles are now. Especially the first gen/fat version with its disc read error issues, particularly for the purple disks. PS2 slim fixed most of the issues and caused people to go and upgrade.
