I'm really surprised in a good way that Americas' sales for PS5 are the same that in Europe. Europe used to be the biggest territory for PlayStation above everywhere else.

VGChartz Top Console Sales through 14 Weeks

NSW 2021's biggest competition this quarter is NSW 2020.  NSW 2020 averages 536K for the next 5 weeks, so with 400-450K weeks, it's going to come close to exhausting it's 670K buffer.  NSW 2020 gets hit big with supply issues in mid-May though, while NSW 2021 should have an advantage there and see a healthier SW release slate going into the summer.  Will be a close race for H1.

H2 I think NSW 2021 will pull ahead with revision + Pokemon/Zelda/surprise releases coming in the Sep-Dec period.

series is doomed

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I think they will manage to stay on top. They have the new Lite color launching + Snap. But i think 2021 might lose a bit of steam but i assume it will take back the lead with a significantly bigger H2, especially Sep to Dec which were pretty lackluster last year in games and promotion.

3) Game Boy (GB/GBC) - 118,690,000

4) PlayStation 4 (PS4) - 115,350,083 (114,900,000+ according to Sony) - Dec. 31st, 2020

5) PlayStation (PS1) - 102,500,000 (102,400,000+ according to Sony) - Mar. 31st, 2012

6) Nintendo Wii (Wii) - 101,640,000 (101,630,000 according to Nintendo) - Dec. 31st, 2020

7) PlayStation 3 (PS3) - 87,410,000 (87,400,000+ according to Sony) - Mar. 31st, 2017

8) Xbox 360 (360) - 85,800,000

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9) Nintendo Switch (NS) - 83,382,699 (79,870,000 according to Nintendo) - Dec. 31st, 2020

The Switch is now over the 83 million mark and is less than 2.5 million away from catching the 360.

All 6 systems seem to have settled into a baseline groove around where they are now.

Surely there's only so many 3DS units left to trickle out by now though, they stopped manufacturing it ages ago.

Switch sold 455k and is still down 22% YoY. This was the time of year in 2020 when Switches were flying off of the shelves due to Animal Crossing + lockdowns. Eventually supplies got limited almost everywhere though. It definitely will be interesting to see how 2021 compares to 2020 going forward. With 2021 getting more games and a hardware revision, I can see it actually outselling 2020. Kinda nuts.

You can't tell considering that all manufacturers struggle with the supply at the moment. I finally managed to get my hands on the series X last week after months of searching.

Of course I will not have a blockbuster success but it is selling quite good for a 3rd place company
