But please keep pretending that everyone of these games is both amazing and exclusive to Xbox/PC. For real though dude. If you had come out with a reasonable list consisting of Fable, Everwild, Psychonaughts 2, Avowed, Hellblade 2, Gears Tactics, Tell Me Why, and MS Flight Sim your argument would have been a lot better. Throwing everything and the kitchen sink into your list just makes you look like a rube with no taste, or somebody that wants to ignore where these games are playable.

I never said every game Xbox has coming out is amazing. I didn't say 2020 was amazing. There will be duds here and there, but the whole point of that post was to prove Xbox is making the right moves going into next gen, and this year was a taste of what's to come.

Ah I see. That's fine then. They are definitely trying to make better 1st party content. Bringing back Fable shows that they care about their lapsed IPs next gen. Grounded sounds really good, but I'll wait for it to leave EA. Anything Obsidian does will be amazing.

These are the 1st party games released this year. It's a pretty good year overall with really Bleeding Edge being the only mediocre title. Am I saying they have the best 1st party games this year? No, I would not say that, but it's not anything less than really good, with some titles be excellent. Then looking into next year and beyond, it's only going to get better. I'm not sure how anyone can think otherwise. I understand that you want to see them deliver quality games consistently, but I don't see how they couldn't with the 23 studios they have now, most being top-tier developers.

Good games exclusive to Xbox and PC...

Gears Tactics
Tell Me Why
Microsoft Flight Simulator
Ori (Also on Switch)

Good, but PC only...

Age of Empires III

Still in early access...

Grounded

Also on PS4...

Minecraft Dungeons
Wasteland 3

Utter crap...

Battletoads
Bleeding Edge

GaaS Nonsense...

Halo Infinite

Actually looks good...

Avowed
Hellblade 2
Psychonauts 2

Probably PC Only...

Age of Empires 4

Yet Another Racing Game...

Forza

Could be good...

Fable
Everwild

Almost guaranteed to be crap...

State of Decay 3

But please keep pretending that everyone of these games is both amazing and exclusive to Xbox and PC. For real though dude. If you had come out with a reasonable list consisting of Fable, Everwild, Psychonaughts 2, Avowed, Hellblade 2, Gears Tactics, Tell Me Why, and MS Flight Sim your argument would have been a lot better. It's this sort of "Lets ignore the facts" marketing that I hate about MS. It has all the accuracy and nuance of a Republican attack ad.

Now do the unannounced games since you can see into the future.

Thank you for being reasonable! That is all many of us ask for lol.

Nah but Runa can claim he didn’t see your post and continue to take jabs at people. That’s how you win an argument tho amirite? Just sayin

They posted two minutes after my post. Based on the timing and length of the post I think the claim checks out. Runa's actions are theirs, yours are yours, and we're looking at both. Got questions about how mods are doing things in general or me in particular, PM me, or CGI. Same to anyone else. The topic was quickly becoming centered upon one user's behavior. Trying to focus it back on the topic.

As someone who's played none of Microsoft's first party games but just got Gamepass, what do you recommend?

I was referring to the 2nd post. I’ll let Rol hand out the criticism of the mod team, that’s not my thing. You haven’t played Minecraft or a Bethesda game before? Lol I just kid. Totally depends on what you like, Xbox Empire can hook you up.

Unlocked.

Just feel I have to address this.

As a lot of people who have interacted with me probably know, I'm always willing to explain myself, and don't mind being questioned. I think I'm very generous with my time in this way, and this is not something I have to do.

However, questioning in a thread puts me in an incredibly awkward position. The point in intervening in a thread is always to try and get things back on topic and to promote more productive discussion. If I respond to people questioning me in the thread, the exact opposite is happening and I'm participating in further derailing.

If I am questioned and don't respond it looks like either I don't have a response or I'm ignoring people. It's a lose lose situation.

It's also against the forum rules, basically for those reasons.

I don't want to shut down people from questioning me, but if it gets to be a consistent problem, that's what has to happen.

So, if you have a question on what I'm doing as a mod, PM me. If you think I've done something irredeemable, PM the Head Mod. Otherwise, if this has already been explained to you, the rules will be enforced. That of course applies to this post.

With that said, back to talking about Microsoft putting themselves back in the game.

You know a great way to see Xbox getting themselves back in the game: more and more Xbox fans standing up for themselves.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

This.

I think that people have taken a habit of bashing xbox. As a Nintendo fan, I know exactly what this is because Nintendo was the laughingstock for a few generations, until they picked themselves back up.

Now, Microsoft has finally figured it out. I think xbox fans should understand what is happening and support Microsoft, talk about what's happening and buying their games to show support.

At the same time, the fans need to be vocal about how digital gaming already kind of ruined movies with Netflix, where some favorites are simply stripped of the store without much notice, making us kind of slaves to the system. I hope this never happens with gaming.

Gamepass aside, MS is definitely making all the right moves right now and we need to encourage that because better competition makes for better gaming overall.

Let's see what cool things this new pressure on Sony and Nintendo brings out in the market!

The biggest difference between Gamepass and Netflix is, you don't have to have Gamepass to access any games. You can buy every game separately and continue gaming how ever you enjoy. I don't ever see MS ever require Gamepass to access certain games because Phil has already hammered how much he wants to give gamers options and make games as accessible as possible. That would go against everything he has said.

Xbox is making sure gamers want Gamepass because the value is excellent, not because they need it.

Now, I can't speak for other services because Stadia and other streaming services might not play by those same rules. I mean, you need PsNow to access certain games, which I'm not a fan of.

In regards to GP, 1st party games are never removed and 3rd party games give 1 month notice before leaving. And even then you can buy the game for a discount if you like.

Yes, you're right. Still there is a realistic worry that Microsoft, while competing with Amazon and Google, may merge Gamepass and XCloud over time, in a way that would require access to the server at all times, even if it is possible to download the games locally. I am just worried about that with Gamepass and like I said I hope that never ever happens and I hope gamers will always be vigilant about that, esp. MS fans.

Still it's the only thing I'm worried about, everything else is MS hitting it out of the park, and I damn hope the industry will be better thanks to it starting next gen.

There is always a possibility something like it may happen, but I have my doubts, and hope it never does. Difference is, MS has the hardware while Amazon and Google don't so it makes me optimistic it won't happen. Even if consoles go away in the future, PC gaming will still be around.

I think there are too many people that left the Xbox ecosystems and they simply don't understand how good the service got for Xbox customers.

Service like smart delivery, enhanced backward compatibility, game pass, and support for all of the last generation accessories is really a system seller that needs to be experienced.

While the quality and quantity of games did take a hit last generation there was a huge problem with the direction that Don Mattrick had taken and Microsoft had to do some serious adjustment or leave the gaming space. They went above and beyond the last generation to improved the services and direction and they only really started addressing the problem of Quality and quantity of games with last year's studio's acquisitions. The recent acquisition of Zenimax studios is Microsoft going above and beyond to make the Xbox ecosystem the best console gaming experience. They took back the power narrative from Sony, they continued to improve on their industry-leading services and is really posed to outdo themself when it comes to software for their consoles and ecosystem.

The biggest thing that Microsoft did is moving beyond locking its customers to a single console. The focus is now really on games rather then what can be played exclusively on the console. Only when a game can no longer be ported to the old generation console should it be next-generation exclusive. Microsoft was obviously ahead of the game when they pledge support for Xbox One and leaving up to the studios on which gave should be next-gen consoles exclusive.
