Just to correct a few things:
1. He wasn’t let go, he opted out of his contract. The 49ers have come out and said after the fact that they would have made him restructure his deal or cut him anyway, but the point remains that he opted out of his contract.
2. The only team on record to have offered Kaep a job was the Denver Broncos, via a trade before he opted out with San Fran. But he would have basically been making less money in two years than he would have made in his last year at San Fran, so he told Denver he wouldn’t restructure his deal. Nothing wrong with that.
3. The “tryout” the NFL tried to get him to agree to what a complete and utter joke. He was supposed to go out and do drills with people he’d never trained with, wasn’t allowed to bring any of his people, wasn’t allowed to record it, and wasn’t going to be given a copy of the film so that he could distribute it. There are other huge red flags the NFL threw in but essentially the NFL wanted to bring him out with no team scouts in attendance, have him run some drills with strangers and record it and then have Kaep trust them that they would hand out the tape to teams.
But a bigger joke than that workout is the idea that Kaep isn’t worthy of any job in the NFL, which is apparently what NFL GMs believe because he’s gotten zero workouts since he left the 49ers. Meanwhile:
Paxton Lynch, Duck Hodges, T.J. Yates, Brandon Allen, Kyle Allen, Mike Glendon, DeShone Kizer, Trevor Seimian, Tom Savage, Kevin Hogan, Matt Moore, Brett Hundley, Brock Osweiler, CJ Beathard, Bruce Petty, Jay Cutler, Drew Stanton, Brian Hoyer, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tyrod Taylor, Josh McCown, Jameis Winston, Blake Bortles, Case Keenum, Sam Bradford, Josh Rosen, Will Grier, Luke Falk, Ryan Finley, Sean Mannion, Mason Rudolph, Colt McCoy, AJ McCarron, David Blough, RG3, Jeff Driskel, Chase Daniel, Matt Schuab, among many many many others have all started games since Kaep has been out of the league. Kaep is not better than these guys? Yeah right.
Zero offers just for a workout for a guy that was a pass away from back to back Super Bowls, who was a physical beast running a system that every team wanted to switch to. But he kneeled and owners blocked him from the league. There’s a reason the NFL settled his lawsuit with him lol.
Not surprised at all that you have your head stuck in the sand here, though.
Call it whatever you want. He wouldn't sign the NFL's liability waiver, which is standard for tryouts. No NFL team is going to pay your bills if you get injured while trying out for them. With regards to training with strangers, is it commonplace for a QB to bring his own receivers with him to tryout for teams? I'm pretty sure it's standard for the team you are trying out for to have that arranged on their end. And, trust the NFL to pass out tapes? There were going to be representatives from 25 teams present at the Atlanta tryout. Imagine having a job interview scheduled, calling your prospective employer and telling them to meet you 60 miles away from your scheduled interview location and then blaming someone else for not getting the job.
Kaepernick's win loss record 2014-2016:
2014: 8-8 (lost 4 of last 5 games)
Where's all the outrage for Jamarcus Russell not getting signed by any teams after the Raiders cut him?
By the way, I'm not going to look up every QB you mentioned, but as a Steelers fan, I can tell you Devlin "Duck" Hodges was a 3rd string QB (now just on the practice squad) playing under a $142,800 contract. Would Kaepernick sign that contract with anyone? Doubt it.
