How y’all feeling about another YoY for japan? 2021>2020 anyone?

It really depends on the line-up and what we see the rest of the year.

If 2020 is >7M for example, I don't think 2021 will be able to surpass it.

If it ends up disappointing us with 6M results than 2021 will probably be up.

It's all about supply for the rest of the year, we've seen that the Switch is selling 100K per week when there is enough supply. I'd imagine we would be looking at some huge figures in December if the supply is there. Luckily Nintendo diversified their hardware and Lite is much easier to produce.

I agree with the 7mil part, I just don’t see it yet. I’m going with 6.5mil for now with 6mil as the floor. If supply really is still hard to get by end of Jan I’m still gonna bet on 2021.

2020 had a massive Q1 but if 2021 can follow thru with momentum and a delayed lineup as well as these big games and a new upgrade model I think it’ll  pull thru. If not another 6mil year imo

Even with monster hunter 2021 isnt surpassing 2020

If I made a BOLD prediction in Jan/feb would you think otherwise??

Has PS4 ever sold under 1,000 in a week in Japan before now? Even the 3DS managed to sell over 1,000 this week. It seems like Sony has given up with PS4 in Japan. Not a good idea for the upcoming transition.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

PS4: 130 mil (was 100 million) Xbox One: 55 mil (was 50 mil) Switch: 110 million (was 73, then 96 million)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Yes, there was a week before the PS4 Slim version release at a measly 364 units.

I don't think weak PS4 sales will affect the upcoming transition. Anyone who just bought a PS4 is unlikely to run out and buy a PS5 a few months from now. That said, I don't expect PS5 to set Japan on fire as Playstation has been declining in the region for a long time now.

Bet with Liquidlaser: I say PS5 and Xbox Series will sell more than 56 million combined by the end of 2023.

"This week, the ranking has been refreshing with 6 new titles in top 10.

At 1st place, The Legend of Heroes: Hajimari no Kiseki has high ratio of Limited Edition and GEO Limited Steel Book and can be said that the title is bought mainly from series' fans.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition with Switch version in 2nd place and PS4 version in 4th place is a remaster but the purchase from new players is estimated high and sales are strong as it is new work.

Also, Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions" that ranked in 6th and 7th place is a football game but it is presumed that it was seen as a character game because there is no foul."

What is this MH? Is there a confirmed new MH game coming to Switch next year?

The's been a MH game rumoured for a while now where it was said MHW was kept off the platform but the deal didn't omit the Freedom/Portable series from being made and that a Freedom/Portable title was being made that was more closer to the likes of Generations than World, this has picked up some speed as Capcom's recent investors report told investors that a MH title that is more geared towards the high school and portable demographic is being worked on which as the series goes only Freedom/Portable were really aimed at that demographic.

The most recent rumour is from this past week where an insider (Dusk) indicates the title is close to being revealed, link below.
