Forums - Sports Discussion - 2022 NBA Offseason - Rest in Peace Bill Russell

Now I'm reading reports that the Lakers AND the Clippers have decided to boycott the NBA season. The rest of the teams have voted to continue (for now), but the two LA teams - who were considered to be the two favorites to win the championship - are done.

If the Clippers and Lakers quit the season, I will honestly never have been so proud of American sports franchises than in that moment. Two teams that are most definitely going to be fighting for a title deciding to give up on the season for a greater cause is almost as big as what Ali did. No, it is not quite as big, but it is still a huge moment for sports and especially team sports.

Heat looked good tonight like I thought they would. The Thunder forcing a game seven is also pretty impressive. Also RIP Lute Olson, Cliff Robinson and John Thompson Jr.

If Chris Paul manages to lead the Thunder to a Game 7 win over James Harden, Russell Westbrook, and the Rockets. Given the trade last offseason didn't exactly happen on the best of terms, and how Westbrook never got the Thunder out of the 1st round on his own (w/o Kevin Durant). That'd almost be as big of a boost to Paul's legacy as winning a championship. Almost.

The defending champs are in some knee-deep shit now.

Man, I was really pulling for Utah in that one. I'm a big fan of Mitchell's game, but credit to Denver for fighting their way back from a 3-1 hole. (That dreaded 3-1 lead rears its ugly head again.)

Both the top 2 seeds in the Eastern Conference are down 2-0. I can't remember the last time something like this happened in either conference.

Both games today almost went to overtime.

Do or die time for Toronto.

OG just saved the Raptors' season!!!
