And invest more in AA arcade games for platform and Arcades.

Namco's late releases and some tiles absences maybe are because of grudge with Nintendo.

Namco work really closely with Nintendo though; they co-developed Smash Bros Ultimate and made Pokken Tournament and New Pokemon Snap.

I know, but Harada is not a big Nintendo fan.

The question remains ... Ring Fit Adventure's retail price is ¥7.980, currently on amazon.co.jp:

What could this game actually achieve if it had enough supply and how would that impact OG hardware sales? In three months the game is going to have a one year anniversary and they still haven't managed to produce anywhere near enough copies.

  1. Wii Sports - 3.724.565
  2. Wii Fit - 3.561.787
  3. Wii Sports Resort - 3.165.464
  4. Ring Fit Adventure - 1.173.243

Will they be able to get supply for its second first holiday? With enough supply this could be one of their biggest game this holiday without any problems, we are talking about over >1M in the final quarter of the year and lifetime sales over >2.5M by the end of 2020.

If Nintendo doesn't release a sequel Ring Fit could very well overtake Wii Sports in Japan by the end of 2022. I'm interested to see it's World Wide increase for the Quarter once the numbers come out, I'm thinking it would be around >3.5M shipped worldwide based on the Japanese figures. For comparison the prior quarter they shipped 560K worldwide, Nintendo sold around >450K in Japan alone last quarter.

Man, I'd kill to know Ring Fit's global numbers. Hopefully one of these days Nintendo discloses them, as that's the only way we'll ever know now.

Bet with Liquidlaser: I say PS5 and Xbox Series will sell more than 56 million combined by the end of 2023.

I believe global numbers are only released for games that have sold over 10 million lifetime.

Splatoon 2's numbers were routinely posted when it was below 10 million, and their current list includes NSMBU at 6.6m.

They currently list the top 10, though I'm not sure if that's by design or just because 10 games currently fit their parameters for reporting in sales numbers.

Actually we do know World Wide Numbers, last quarter it was 2.73M - https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2020/200507_3e.pdf

We know that they are selling out everything as soon as it reaches most storefronts.

It's been constantly in the Top 5 in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan in the last quarter. The stock started to be stable towards early May in Asia, with a big spike of +561% in Japan for week 18(Golden Week) when they sold 81K copies.

In Europe and the US stock started to appear in June:

  • North America - 7th in June(835 in May)
  • Germany - 4th in June(didn't chart in May)
  • UK - a couple of weeks at 2nd, dropping to 4th at the end of June, flactuating between 10-20th since than
  • Spain - didn't chart in May or June

Considering Famitsu has Ring Fit Adventure at 328K for the prior quarter, I expect actual shipments to be around 450K(one additional week and MyNintendo Store). Anticipating that Japan and Asia probably make up around 40-50% of the sales for the quarter(since they got shipments earlier because they are closer to the factories). If the game sold 50K in the rest of Asia during the last quarter that's anywhere between 1M to 1.2M for the quarter worldwide, so there is even a possibility the game already surpassed 4.5 million worldwide

As Piscatella from the NPD said. “New stock entering the market drove the increase.” This is the case for all markets.

Probably just a case of Nintendo prioritizing certain markets where the Ring Fit Adventure is pushing more of their new consumers towards the higher-priced Switch instead of the Lite. Ring Fit cannot be underlooked as one of the factors beyond COVID and Animal Crossing driving these record-breaking numbers. Haven't played the Wii games but I think Ring Fit is a very legitimate exercise that hasn't caught on in the way it could if you could actually find the game.

Its currently sold out on Amazon.co.jpAmazon.com(used start at $110); Amazon.fr(start at 94 euro); Amazon.co.uk(start at 87 pounds); Amazon.es(starts at 94 euro), only Amazon.de from the major markets has it at retail price.

With a rumoured return to lockdowns in some countries, a potential second wave of COVID, gyms will be closing down again... and this leads me to the fact that Nintendo is pretty much the only game maker providing this type of experience. The rest of the year is looking insane if Nintendo produces enough copies, pushes more marketing and development resources into the game. It's like a perfect storm for this type of game and the comparison with the Wii games might become interesting in a couple of years if Nintendo doesn't release a sequel soon.

Ah yes, thanks, my memory is so bad I had forgotten.

Considering a lot of folks thought it would flop, and it's a new IP in a genre that hadn't been popular in years, I'd say it's doing amazingly well.

Nintendo has listed the top 10 for all of their more recent consoles and the only parameter for that is that the lists are supposed to have exactly 10 games.

Everything outside of that shows up in financial reports as long as the game in question shipped 1m+ during the current fiscal year, so older games have only a low chance to get reported on at the end of fiscal Q1, then an increasingly better chance as the fiscal year progresses.

Ring Fit Adventure's total might get an official update next week when Nintendo's report gets released, but if that doesn't happen, it will inevitably happen later because RFA is going to ship 1m+ units during the current fiscal year with ease.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

If we're lucky, then maybe we'll get numbers next week on their quarterly report already.
