Forums - Gaming Discussion - Apparently tech journalist Zenji Nishikawa has a revolutionary scoop; claims SEGA has a major announcement for their 60th anniversary. It is a Tech related announcement

Yes like Sega has some mystery tech going to save their ass. More sounds like this fuck is trying make a few bucks off Sega pathetic stock price actually going up for a change.

My money is on a handheld that can emulate all their old games and it will come bundled with at least 25 of their old classics.

Mentioned PS5 far too much.
Sony bought Sega and Sega is making a PSP3 for them to compete with the Switch.
Thank me later.

Sony hired Atlus (from Sega) to develop LoD2

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

I can't figure out what Sega is up to.. but we can dream! :)

1) Option-1: The super wet dream.
A new console, similar to Switch with docking/undocking capability, better hardware, that includes an online shop for downloading all SEGA's retro games (Arcade, Master System, Megadrive, Saturn, Dreamcast) at a reasonable price. And new original games that will launch first on this new console!

Sega Dreams, launching at 249$ in 2021, with games that will follow: Sonic Mania 2, Monster Boy 2, Golden Axe 4, Virtua Fighter 6, Daytona USA 3, Panzer Dragoon X, Sonic Adventure 3.

2) Option-2: Mini consoles, so Saturn mini, Dreamcast mini.

3) Option-3: SEGA is bought by Nintendo or Microsoft, making only exclusives games. :O

What will be? :D

Even as Persona is great, they probably still can't make it.

Maybe Xbox Series X will be backwards compatible with Dreamcast, Saturn and Sega CD :)

I'm just going to hope it's Virtua Fighter 6, and leave it at that. No point getting my hopes up too high.

The hyperbole is strong with this one.

BUT...I'll go way out into left field for a guess that is absolutely not going to happen. A Sega branded 2 TB M.2 stick with every Sega PC game on it plus a Sega emulator for classics and game launcher pre-installed.

We don't know what it is yet so we can't say its hyberbole.

Something definitely is going to happen: https://www.gematsu.com/2020/03/sega-launches-60th-anniversary-website-sega-shiro-character

SEGA began the whole marketing for their 60th birthday back in March leading up to the actual day.

The last bit, once again, is not big news. The only console announcement that we be shocking on a industry level is a new console from SEGA. Why in the world would anybody else care about a SEGA legacy console? SEGA's best console was the Genesis and that got a regular announcement! That is best SEGA has offered in terms of popularity then they announce another lesser mini/legacy console as a 60th anniversary?  Why would he interview tech specialist and executives about a glorified emulator? c'mon guys.

I'm thinking some new tech or service that is just not for use by SEGA exclusively.

What about a merger or partnership with either sony or microsoft?
Or perphaps a direct buy out.... like if Sony or MS just bought sega?

Sony and Atlus working together on a LoD2..... it would be some next level stuff.

Tbh the best thing about Sega, is that they own Atlus.
If Sega ever looks to sell off Atlus, I hope Sony is read with the pocket book.
