Interesting, sale or bundle for 3D Allstars make sense we know that the game is currently at 60-80% stock - so around 500K has been shipped by Nintendo not counting digital.
Momotaro is heading for that 350K opening making it the 7th biggest opening in front of DQXIS which launched at 303K. Age of Calamity range will be between 150-200K

Koei Tecmo has been Switch's most supportive 3rd party company since day one. It's no surprise almost all of their games are coming to Switch. If I had to list including Indie, AA, and AAA. I could keep going, but I'll stop here. |
Would you disagree if I said that Age of Calamity, Atelier 2, BOND and Dynasty Warriors 9 - are pretty much equal to their combined output on the Switch up until this point in terms of sales potential. They have over 100 games launched on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita which charted on Famitsu, and even with those games I listed just over 30 on the Switch.
Overall its only now that they are starting to really capitalize on their support of the Switch in Japan.

They've released 4 games actually and all four have sold more than 200K physical in Japan.
At some point next year they would surpass their total sales on the PS4. This year the 4 games they have released on the Switch will surpass the lifetime physical sales of their Top 5 games on the PS5.
PS4 Konami Top 5:
TOTAL: 1.355.037
Switch Konami All:
TOTAL: 678.382

True, this week PS4 version will top Media-create and people will be saying the same things they said when this happened with Trails of Mana :D
Try to explain that there is actual people buying it for the equivalent of $100 physically in Japan.

Konami should be at the top 3 or 4 best selling publishers on Switch at the end of 2020 right?
1. Bandai Namco
2. Microsoft
3. Konami or Square Enix
16 million userbase is too big to be ignored by Japanese devs at this point.
Square Enix should prepare the next mainline DQ game asap while Nintendo Switch is still rampaging in Japan for at least 2-3 years.
Momotaro slaying out here.. Switch numbers have probably doubled this week

It's between Square and Konami, it really does depend on how well Momotaro does.
I would personally compare it to Super Mario Party, which launched far lower with 126.275 but is legging and bundling its way to 2 million. Mototaro's LTD floor is 1.5 million at this point, while eBaseball 2020 is heading towards around a minimum of 400K by the time the next Baseball game launches. This is one of the reasons at some point Konami will catch up to Microsoft who only has one extremely well selling game. They are actually seemingly investing into bringing 4-5 games to the Switch per year.
Capcom will make short work of that top 4 next year with the release of Monster Hunter Rise.
In terms of DQ, that one is interesting, we have the mainline and spinoffs...
It's been 5 years since a mainline; 5 years since a heroes game; 4 years since the last Monsters game; 2 years since the last builders game. There's gotta be at least one DQ game next year
Switch hardware gonna be big this week yup. Momotaro and AoC will do really good as well.
Looks like Momotaro is set to dethrone Dragon Quest as the third party king on Switch, if only for the few months til MH Rise decimates all before it. The next Famitsu weekly numbers should be monstrous for Switch hardware, unless shortages strike again.
