Good last day for FF7R.

saw over in resetera that stores are only honoring pre orders of ff7r and no new orders on the day of launch due to the state of emergency. That might be the reason for this late surge

+129p in 2 days .... What the heck people were waiting for ?!

The lockdown, possible? After all, Japan was really late to issue one, and they also stop importing stuff now. I think that those who bought the game en masse now just wanted to make sure they can get a physical copy, as later on that may be impossible. They might have gotten frightened by the news that no Switch shipments will come next week, too.

Was asking myself

End of an era.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I wonder what is the next highly anticipated game in Japan? The next Last Guardian or the next Final Fantasy VII Remake..?

I know that Nintendo games are highly anticipated, as shown with Animal Crossing New Horizons, Smash Bros., Mario, and Pokemon, and Monster Hunter and Dragon Quest dominate the charts as well. However, its kinda fascinating when you look at games like FFVII Remake or Last Guardian that were highly sought after for years that readers from Famitsu (take that for what you will) voted for them as highly anticipated games even before they had actual reveals or release windows (let alone release dates).

Whether they fulfilled those desires or expectations are up to the consumers (and sales, of course), but they became the talk of the town in Japan for sometime until they finally released (or in FFVIIR's case, just released). I guess what could come close is the next episode of FFVIIR, though who knows when that would ever come out, considering how the game opens up after Midgar.

Animal Crossing is on track to sell 7 million but never topped Famitsu's Most Wanted. If you can get these sales results without being the "talk of the town" then we either have to wonder why Japanese don't put their money where their mouth is or the Famitsu Most Wanted doesn't come close to representing what gamers are actually looking forward to.

I get that certain magazines or websites do not necessarily represent all of the audience for any country. Its just that when you hear about certain games people really want, like open world Zelda prior to BotW, people would talk hours on end on what their hopes would be. Will there be such a game that would garner fans to discuss such hopes and dreams in Japan that you would see anticipation through the marketing and sales?

I guess those price drops for some of the bottom half of the top 20 made it possible for them to actually chart.

So combined, Pokemon Sw/Sh will sell less than 3K in MC?
