Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why the SSD is a big deal for PS5, Series X.

They mostly are.

And the PS5's SSD is much more capable.  Whether the faster SSD will lead to good benefits, we'll have to see.

I read that there is parity on that front.

"Sony and Microsoft's joint commitment to SSD tech suggests a parity across both consoles for third party developers to work with."

At least very likely, also for all the reasons I mentioned already.

You mean this "Sony and Microsoft's joint commitment to SSD tech suggests a parity across both consoles for third party developers to work with. "?

Have you ignored that it is for third party development not that the SSDs are at parity?

its quite simple if the SSD is so superior they would have cut the CPU out and went with with SSD only,
frankly im going with what star citizen gets as results

I'm not sure what you're talking about?

PS5's SSD is a bit over twice as fast.  Feature parity would be accurate, not spec parity.

At that scale, twice as fast should likely not matter.

At that scale 15-20% on GPU should likely not matter.

It doesn't work that way. If I tell you that in one case the speed is 0.5ms and the other is 1ms, it just doesn't matter. You won't notice anything.

And yet you're thinking a 15% faster GPU is massively innovative.

From an engineering point of view, it certainly is.

Yes let`s accuse Sony fans of downplaying the GPU difference and using SSD as secret sauce, then let`s ignore all the devs that asked for SSD as top priority over GPU and CPU specs, that said it will revolution game design, and double speed and think we aren`t downplaying PS5 advantage.

60fps versus 70fps doesn`t matter as well.

Yes, let's. Because it's the right thing to do.

How often did people downplay the MS secret sauce. This time the XsX has clearly beaten the PS5 in terms of hardware, yet here you are pretending like there is a case for the SSD as being a big deal when it isn't. Just stop.

Achieving 15% performance difference with 45% less CUs is quite impressive and innovative engineering wise.
