Man it feels so good to get software numbers for these kind of non-megaton Switch games again!

SO where are these numbers coming from, are they physical only, and are they as of the end of 2019?

They are from the 2020 CESA Games White Paper.

They make a yearly survey where publishers can report their game sales numbers. So this is total shipment.

Sadly only few companies bother nowadays. Capcom stopped and Square Enix is only updating some old stuff.

Okay, so do we know when this paper dates from, like is it sales as of end of 2019?

Bet with Liquidlaser: I say PS5 and Xbox Series will sell more than 56 million combined by the end of 2023.

Yes, they are always for the full calendar year which means numbers are up to 31.12.2019

Nice, so there's a good chance then that by now Xenoblade 2, Yoshi's Crafted World, and Octopath Traveler have passed 2 million, and Kirby Star Allies 3 million.

Possible. We will hopefully know around this time next year.

Or maybe if the games go completely crazy and sell 1M+ in Nintendos FY they will be listed in their IR reports.

Major increases:

Octopath Traveler (NSW) - 1.90M (+400k)

I thought they announced in March that they went past 2M sales on Switch, 2.2M if you're including Steam sales.

That was total sales for the game so included Steam as the message was also on SE's twitter for the steam version, the 1.9m figure for NS and the sales on Steam would pass 2m in total back in March.

So this is something I want to collect over time but building that history will take time.

Here are some totals for End of 2019 in Japan

WiiU Japan Software:

1. Splatoon - 1.78M
2. Mario Kart 8 - 1.43M
3. New Super Mario Bros U - 1.35M
4. Super Mario Maker - 1.08M

3DS Japan Software:

23. Monster Strike - 1.00M

Switch Japan Software:

1. Super Smash Bros Ultimate - 4.22M
2. Pokemon Sword / Shield - 4.21M
3. Splatoon 2 - 3.78M
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - 3.25M
5. Super Mario Odyssey - 2.41M
6. Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu / Eevee - 2.05M
7. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - 1.92M
8. Super Mario Party - 1.68M
9. Super Mario Maker 2 - 1.12M

How the heck Yokai Watch 3 came from 2 million copies (which was already far worse than YW 2) to less than 300k copies with YW4 in less than 3 years?

Thanks for adding all of those Marth, and for getting a copy of the CESA white paper again. I've updated all of the series entries for the games you listed.

Nintendos new update is out.
