Not really liking the changes in Far Cry 5 tbh. No minimap, no exp for kills (replaced by challenges and new perk system), and no towers. Idk, guess I'm alone on wanting this kind of formula to stay the same.

Dying Light 2 has over 200,000 concurrent players on Steam already, seems the game is a hit like the first which sold over 17m copies, I feel like Era in particular was really out of touch with its popularity, Lol. It's a shame that Microsoft couldn't get it on Game Pass because I really doubt they have Elden Ring either so it may be a bit of a dry Feb.

Only thing is that Elden Ring may sell less on Xbox than Dying Light 2? Maybe it'll be cheaper cause the fanbase is skewed to Playstation? Idk, Lol. I doubt they get it, I'm wondering where this huge money is for Game Pass that Jeff mentioned!

I think just about everywhere are out of touch with how popular Dying Light is but I think that comes from the console focused nature of sites like Era both Dying Light and Elden Ring on PC will be the biggest platforms and sell more than both Xbox+PS combined. One of them been on Gamepass for console/PC would of been a massive statement from MS but likely very expensive.

From the Axios interview BTW.

“The board of Microsoft, on the day that we got approval for ZeniMax, asked, 'What was next?'”

Lol...

I want this same energy once Activision is done.

I’m not so sure I agree yet. As Phil stated, this will be a monumental undertaking. Microsoft will be the largest employer of video game developers in the United States and the largest outside of Asia after the deal is complete, that’s a huge amount of people to manage. Maybe they should take it slow?

You're not alone, I didn't like it either. They made even more controversial changes in 6, the perk selection menu from 5 is completely removed in favor of perks being tied to the clothing system, but there are multiple huge problems with that:

  • The gear perk system only allows you to make a highly specialized build, it's nowhere near as good at allowing you to make a jack of all trades build that is good at everything.
  • They stupidly didn't design a clothing save system with multiple slots for different outfits, so if you need to change into a stealth build for a single mission, or a gas resistance build for a mission with lots of gas, or a fire resistance build for certain missions where you have to escape from a burning building, you have to go through the UI and change each piece of clothing manually, then change it all back manually afterwards, which is very annoying
  • There is no cosmetic slot for the clothing system, so you can't pick one piece of clothing that you like the look of and another with the perk you need, you are forced to choose between aesthetics or perk

Additionally, Hurk, who had been in every Far Cry game since 3 except Blood Dragon (though technically it was Hurk's ancestor who was in Primal, not Hurk himself), and Willis, who had been in every Far Cry game except Blood Dragon and Primal, are both missing completely in 6, there are some letters that mention them but that is it.

Though on the plus side they did bring back the minimap for 6, and though you don't get XP for all kills, you do get a small amount of XP for destroying vehicles.

I really hope they combine the best elements of all previous Far Cry games on Far cry 7, bring back the skill tree, bring back XP for kills, make clothing cosmetic again (or make the perks that clothing grants something that works in addition to the skill tree), combine the 2 systems of map fog clearing from earlier games (you can either run around to clear the fog or unlock a radio tower to clear fog from a whole section of the map easily), bring back the animal companions and the human companions, bring back Hurk and Willis again.

They need to come up with a really good setting for 7, these seem likely to be the settings they are choosing between for Far Cry 7 as they appeared in the 2 most recent Far Cry setting survey:

  • Northern Canadian Territories
  • India
  • Steppes of Alaska
  • Siberia
  • Vietnam
  • Africa
  • Saharan desert Africa
  • Australia
  • North Korea
  • New Zealand
  • Peru

The 2 most recent surveys also included some choices for the next Far Cry spinoff which means that Ubisoft was likely choosing between these:

  • Sci-fi game on another planet
  • Vampire game
  • Old West game
  • Zombie game
  • Blood Dragon 2
  • Jurassic Park style game

Wow, that sounds really bad...Not really looking forward to playing 6 as much. Definite $20 pickup for sure. And judging by AC live service, I don't have much faith in Ubisoft anymore. Sad, just when I was starting to really like these games. We'll see though, maybe I'll think differently when I play it. After 5, I'll go into New Dawn, not even Ryuu played that shit apparently. And then later buy 6. Played 3, 4, Primal, and now 5. I think I need a break from Far Cry.

Jurassic Park FC would be fun, minus any live service, or annoying perk system.

Astria Ascending is amazing. Shame I didn't play this earlier as this would've been my RPG GOTY of 2021.
Can't understand the low Metascore of 68 (PC). About half way through and IMO it's somewhere between 8 and 8.5.

Highly recommended if you like classic turn based JRPGs (even if it's developed by a French company) with gorgeous hand-drawn visuals.

Whomever came up with these flying controls in FC 5..fu. Holy shit I get a headache shooting down planes.

^^I'm a big pass on Scalebound. PG for me is pretty overrated, just not a big fan of their recent games. Wonder if they need more money for their other projects...

The thing with Platinum is they've always been a hit or miss. Even in mid-2010s they've made crappy Transformers and Korra games. And I'm pretty sure they will deliver with Bayonetta 3. So right now it's hard to say if they really made a turn for worse or not.

Elden Ring will probably sell more than DL2, even on Xbox. The game is being hyped a lot. I can easily see it being the best selling FromSoft game. Also, FromSoft games have a big following on Xbox, they sell a lot more than any average Japanese game does.

Guitar hero plays harder than a real Guitar , 2:33 mark that's insane and it gets more insane video proceeding. Microsoft is the best companty that can revive guitar hero the current install base is small because Activision hasn't made one in years , Microsoft should rehire the Guitar Hero devs if they don't have them?

It really doesn't lol.

Going by the steam sales this week, I'd say that there is a good chance that DL2 will come out on top. I mean, I have always felt like the Souls fanbase is just really passionate and makes every game look bigger than they really are. I mean, the way these people hyped the Demon's Souls remake, you would think that it would be the best selling game on PS5 by now (the same with Bloodborne on PS4).
