I liked WW2, played like 160 hours of it. End of the year is looking great for fps fans. Battlefield, CoD, and Halo.

Quake's free next gen upgrade coming soon. So if you have a series maybe wait a bit =p

So neither id nor Machine even worked on the Quake Remaster, it was Nightdive Studios:

Looking like the rumored Quake reboot by id and Machine is still happening, even if it's not announced on this QuakeCon.

It makes sense if you think about it. id's 2nd team hasn't worked on a game since Rage 2 in 2019, and we already know that the Avalanche team that co-developed Rage 2 is doing Contraband for Xbox, so that id team is likely not working on a Rage 3, so they must be working on something else. Then you have Machine, their last 2 games were Wolfenstein 2 in 2017 and Wolfenstein Youngblood in 2019, so the Wolfenstein Youngblood team will have been free for 2 years now. Both the 2nd id team and the Wolfenstein Youngblood teams released games summer 2019, timing lines up for them to have been co-developing a game together since then. Wolfenstein 3 seems to be a no-go for the time being, and Indiana Jones is years away, probably 2025 release.

Considering how great Nightdive's Kex Engine is for old 90s FPS games, I'd like to hope that Q2 gets the same treatment at some point.

Yep, hopefully Phil takes proper note of what people want. I especially agree with the following from the article:

  • The achievement system badly needs a revamp, they haven't touched it in like 4 years and foolishly cancelled a previously planned revamp
  • 360/OG Xbox back compat additions need to resume. We were previously told that 360/OG Xbox BC additions were only temporarily on hold while the BC team focused on getting 100% Xbox One BC on Xbox Series, but they finished with Xbox One BC on Xbox Series 9 months ago, and we have yet to hear a word about 360/OG Xbox BC resuming.
  • Xbox needs better marketing and localization in it's weaker global markets
  • Xbox needs to do better with Japanese support
  • Xbox needs to open up the Xbox Series SSD expansion card standard to other manufacturers than just Seagate, competition would likely drive down prices some

I think the main problem with B/C is game publishing rights issue. Everything that could be done from technical side was already done, so it's only up to publishers to approach Microsoft to continue with the program. Unfortunately, it seems like almost all the games that could have been added to the program, had been added already. And so, I suppose B/C team itself is focused at 120FPS updates now.

As for the concerns from that article, one more point can be added which was highlighted on Twitter today. Quake is getting LRG release only on Playstation and Switch and it is a Microsoft IP. It's hilarious how Xbox that screams louder than everyone else about "giving players the options" comes up with such a cold treatment to those who are into physical media.

Skyrim coming to PS4/5 pretty much confirms the 6th game will as well.

Skyrim is a legacy game. I still expect ES6 to be Xbox console exclusive as it is a new game.

Don’t feed the troll pls

Woohoo, just passed Re up 60 in Gears 5, seems I am one the first 100 =p

Lmao, I literally just started playing Skyrim again for the first time in a literal decade (since the original release on 360) on my Switch, and was already looking to pick up the special edition for Xbox One soon. Might wait to see the price for anniversary edition, but from a quick google I'm not really interested in any of the creation club stuff. If I wanted to play Skyrim with 500 mods, I would've done it already like everyone else.

If I'm lucky I might get special edition on a good clearance deal now, but I'm also concerned if I wait too long they'll disappear over night and I'll have to pay more for a version I don't want.

$225 on the 15th-19th
