Why would you compare buying another company and making it a part of your company with buying content away from other platforms? Buying another company is absolutely fine as long as you won't get too mighty.

Not sure why this comparison even happens all the time. Yes, these games might not come to PS anymore but you also don't just throw money on someone. You have to care about that studio afterwards. It's a damn part of your company after all then. You don't just think "which developer can I buy to hurt Sony" if you buy one.

You're missing the point of my comparison.

Y'all going nuts over some timed exclusives and acting as if Xbox is doing nothing, when they acquired a massive publisher with some of the biggest IPs in the industry which will be exclusive and is a far bigger dick move to Sony fans than these timed exclusives are to Xbox fans.

No, you didn't get my point because I already answered to this already. It's not a dick move to buy a company and to enlarge your own one with new employees. It sucks for PS owners to not get these games anymore but that doesn't make it a dick move. It's also not a dick move when Sony buys studios.

have to sleep now^^

Sony are not worried at all about MS even with the Bethesda deal, literally all of the studios that MS bought for XGS are not going to make their debut until 2023 at the earliest meanwhile Sony are going all out with full momentum on their side.

We now all see that MS buying Bethesda actually saved them because can you imagine if they didn’t and Sony did manage to get Starfield as a timed exclusive? Xbox would have been fucked royally.

What would they have for 2022 if not for Bethesda?

Buying Bethesda was Microsoft investment, like Sony did with those exclusives...

There is no "saving", if not Bethesda, Microsoft would have done something else with that money and invested somewhere else. Stop being so dramatic.
Sony is simply doing the same thing and they are both successful at it lately.

Of course, as I prefer the Xbox ecosystem, it sucks when I am forced to play a game on the Play Station Five (I have both); but Microsoft did not "save" themselves, they just moved forward and invested in stuff, like Sony does.

Tell me then if they didn’t buy them where would MS today? Yeah it was a great investment we can all agree there is no argument there but what would have been the plan if it failed to go through?

You might not think that it’s a big deal that Sony has some Timed exclusives but it is and it negatively impacts Xbox and their image.

It’s been 3 years since the expansion started and like I said we don’t have any results yet other than CGI trailers. I’m most disappointed in XGP more than anything.

Y'all need to chill. The sky ain't falling lol

As an aside, Playground and T10 laughing their asses off at that GT footage

This thread whenever Sony has an event.

And yet Xbox has had a great Summer, is likely to have a great Holiday, but this thread is dead AF for all of that.

We're going to have a generation where all 3 console manufacturers do great and all 3 (well, maybe not Nintendo, cause they don't have to) make some pretty significant power moves, y'all gonna have to get used to that, acting like Xbox isn't doing anything in response though is frankly, ridiculous, and I feel like some of you are just too invested in this console war mentality and always want Xbox to put down Sony in response to every single thing they do, it's just unhealthy, Imo.

Play Psychonauts 2.

So much this lol. I mean from a business standpoint what did yall expect Sony to do especially after Bethesda buyout ? Sit there and take it? I'm also thinking it is more than throwing money, Sony and Disney looks like they have a good business relationship as well. There's going to be more deals like this going forward, so just hope it's less reactionary since it is already happening. I have a PS5, so for me it's not that big of deal. Sony conference was a solid 8/10, mot hyped for that Eve game. Insomniac really puttin in a lot of work as well. Don't care for Nintendo much anymore, but if you're not into PC gaming, Series X and PS5 really do have a great amount of games to invest into each platform respectively.

On to the business relationship between Sony and Disney. They clearly are pretty close, so I wonder if Disney will make Xbox release multiplat. Should be interesting.

They would have done something else. You assume that it was the only thing Microsoft could do... and you said it saved them.

No, Microsoft (like Sony) has a lot of options and they would have gone another way... Maybe buy another publisher, or exlusives like Sony does.

Just telling you that, this has nothing to do with "saving" themselves.

Wow, everyone so upset about Sony’s showcase even though it was way way weaker than anyone could have anticipated. I would have skipped it if I knew what they’ re gonna show there, but Gematsu twitter reposting some bingo cards with Project Re Fantasy, Persona, FF XVI made me feel like it’s probably some insider knowledge and that I should give it a try.

The actual result is that there were only two big announcements:
KOTOR remake (sucks, indeed feels like a slap in the face to most Xbox owners, but I personally never played the original one and don’t really give a shit about a remake, so not a big deal for me at all),
Marvel Wolverine (it’s Marvel game, so ehh, Marvel’s pretty popular, so I get that it is quite a big announcement, but with Spider Man 2 targeted for 2023 release, it’s hard to see Wolverine releasing before 2024, maybe even 2025. It’s FF7R and Sony’s 2015 showcase all over again. On a positive side, Insomniac is already busy with 2 big games so it makes potential Sunset Overdrive 2 exclusive to PlayStation quite unlikely in the near future)

Anything else, besides those mentioned above, they’ve shown games that we already knew about. I think the only new games were some indie game and that Radiohead collaboration with Epic Games.

So, yeah, this show is not as big of a deal as some industry insiders tried to make it look like. Xbox is fine for quite some time with what they’ve already announced and there is not need to rush some response to Sony IMO.

C'mon.

  • KOTOR Remake - No Release Date
  • Spider-Man 2 - 2023.
  • Bioshock 4 - Hasn't even been announced yet, likely years away.
  • Wolverine - Likely even further than Spider-Man 2.
  • Street Fighter 6 - Currently rumoured for the last quarter of 2023.
  • Deathloop/Ghostwire Tokyo - About to release but are both New IPs with not much fanfare, doubt they'll push anything.
  • FF/Forspoken - Okay, hurts Xbox and their 2m Japanese fans.
  • Remedy IP - It's frigging Remedy, that ain't releasing anytime soon either.
  • Silent Hill - Not announced, may not even exist! At least, not the Sony version, which was originally rumoured to be from Sony Japan who don't exist anymore, so...

Y'all are panicking over money-hats, most of which, are years away, the same as Xbox's exclusives, Lol.

And I mean, Shika, you're kinda proving my point, I think you are far too concerned about how much Xbox sells in comparison to Playstation, Xbox was never going to get close to Playstation this gen but that doesn't mean Xbox can't be successful, Lol. You're too invested in the competition, as long as Xbox sells enough, it'll be fine.

And who is to say some of these New IPs won't be absolute bangers and sell well? Who is to say some of these reboots won't be duds? We don't know. Silent Hill for example was never a big seller either, Lol.

Just sit back and enjoy the wave of games that Xbox is going to chuck at you thanks to Game Pass, stop worrying constantly about what Sony does, or get a Playstation if you can't wait a year

Yeah, by the time everything on this list releases, Xbox will have even more games. Because E3 2022 is coming and there probably will be quite more big announcements here and there.

And tbh, from that list FF 16 and Remedy IP are probably the only ones that would be bad to be timed exclusive. But I personally doubt Remedy IP will be a timed exclusive. Epic’s strategy seems to be to release everywhere but Steam, and they are not in any financial troubles, so I think they will ask way too much from Sony to the point that this deal is gonna be not beneficial for Sony.

P.S. Forspoken looks awful, this game doesn’t appeal to Japanese games fans at all. It is a typical game from Japanese devs who wants to appeal to Western audiences really really hard and the result is meh.

Those timed exclusive deals where there before Bethesda, they already had Deathloop, Ghostwire, Forspoken and FF16 and probably more that were not public yet, they also would have had Starfield.

Those Moneyhat deals were not in response to the MS purchasing Bethesda.
