What does it matter whether crypto is mined on sustainable power sources or offset by tree planting schemes (Which is how they claim to be sustainable). It's still a giant waste of energy. Plus the carbon footprint of the producing the equipment (power hungry GPUs) and recycling them again at eol. Sol and wind energy aren't free either, the solar panels and wind turbines have their own carbon footprint, need maintenance and don't last forever.

A Bitcoin ASIC miner will, once turned on, not be switched off until it either breaks down or becomes unable to mine Bitcoin at a profit. Because of this, Bitcoin miners increase the baseload demand on a grid. They don’t just consume energy when there is an excess of renewables, but still require power during production shortages. In the latter case Bitcoin miners have historically ended up using fossil fuel based power (which is generally a more steady source of energy).

Further substantiation on why Bitcoin and renewable energy make for the worst match can be found in the peer-reviewed academic article “Renewable Energy Will Not Solve Bitcoin’s Sustainability Problem” featured on Joule. With climate change pushing the volatility of hydropower production in places like Sichuan, this is unlikely to get any better in the future.

Solar and wind power aren't free energy sources. They also require large areas of land (or water). Using the energy to power crypto mining is as wasteful as growing crops to make biofuel instead of feeding people.

I only did the first chapter of Halo infinite I have to say I am honestly kinda shocked how much I enjoyed it as I really dont care for fps games but I had to force myself to stop and wont continue until I can play it together with my son after he gets his series S

Yup. I’m on mission 9 and got an achievement and saw that 9% of people have gotten the same achievement. For a free to play game those are really good numbers.

I knew it was insanely hard to get a PS5 or Series X, but it was even more impossible to get a new GPU! This definitely explains it

But this has absolutely nothing to do with MTX, its like people are purposely confusing selling some skin of yourself outside of the game to actual purchase of cosmetic in game items.  Lets think this through, if they just sold this skin and allowed people to give them money to be in the game would you really care.  Is it the NFT part that gets your goat and even still, how does it affect the game, its quality, price or fun factor.  I am still at a loss on how this actually affect the actual game itself and why I should care if its cryptocurrecy they want to give a person who pays for a skin in a game compared to nothing.

Peter Molyneux's new project tells me everything I need to know that I want no part of blockchain gaming in any way, shape, or form. The dude is already a notorious con-artist, and one I can see taking full advantage of the NFT landscape.

It's sad that we're already seeing some developers exploiting this new landscape, and it's not even fully been implemented yet. 

Right now I don’t see a problem with NFT implementation. It could be a really cool way to have digital collectibles and NPC ownership alongside a marketplace for gamers to buy, sell, trade these tokens. If publishers start to exploit consumers in a way it affects the gameplay experience then there’s a conversation to be had but right now none of that is happening. 

Also the gpu and environmental concerns are kinda funny because none brought up these concerns when Sony and MS were building these cloud streaming centers. I’m sure these centers aren’t operated using clean energy.

Really enjoyed Origins. Definitely my fave in the series so far. Can't wait for the massive fluff in the next two games though. Last DLC for this game was fun.
