F*ck it, lets make Joe Head of XGS

I'm all for it. No offense to Bonnie, but let's face it, too many issues at 343 have taken place under her leadership. The MCC launch disaster, the Halo 5 issues (poor writing which lead to the worst received campaign in the series, randomized lootboxes, and Hunt The Truth marketing campaign that had nothing to do with the game itself), Halo Infinite apparently having nearly 2/3rds of it's open world content cut (which explains the 3 missing biomes from the Slipspace engine reveal trailer), the Halo Infinite 2020 disaster demo, the Halo Infinite missing features on launch (forge, raytracing, weather, campaign co-op, mission select, Firefight, etc.), the Halo Infinite poor monetization and progression on launch, the Halo Infinite low map count on release. I could go on. Some of those issues are likely on Microsoft rather than her, but the fact remains, under her leadership 343 has had many struggles. Time to oust her and give Joe a chance, he has worked miracles on Infinite's campaign in the last year and a few months, I think if he had been in charge for the entire 6 months we would be looking at our first 90+ meta 343 Halo game right now.

I told you why MS has that contract rule and its not going away any time soon. Basically MS was sued because they had contractors working at MS for a very long time, think of a decade in some cases. They did not provide contractors with benefit as full time employees which is why they hire contractors. Well MS lost that case and was forced to pay benefits for contractors if they were employed for a certain length of time. Now usually most contractors can get around this if they are employed by an agency which does pay the contractors benefits but most game developer contractors just get hired on direct. MS as a business hire a huge number of contractors and they put that policy in place because just like any big corporation, money trumps all. I believe that because of the court case MS lost, they cannot rehire that contractor for a certain length of time or pay benefits for that person.

Man you seem to be in a pretty good blame everything on one person mood.  There is a lot that goes on in a company, its rarely just one person.  There are many different managers, Directors, department heads you name it.  A lot of the stuff you mention doesn't even sound like it can just be placed on that one person.  This is why gamers should just play games and stop worrying about what happens in a company.  Most times you all just throw out blame having no clue what is going on.  Why I always find funny is that when you get something good or solid, gamers always feel the need to find something to grip about instead of just enjoying a game.  Why waste time blaming someone you have no clue if the items you feel are an issue was that person fault.  At the end of the day, it appears that Halo Infinite is a good game and the MP is a solid entry.  Even for Bungie they have had their ups and downs.

I said Head of XGS, not 343i! Lol.

But sure, I think Joe could be promoted further though it seems many of Infinite's issues aren't able to be blamed on Bonnie, the contract stuff is Microsoft's issue, the engine being a bitch is what it is, it isn't easy to fix it when you have to drop staff every 18 months too, those things have a knock on effect on everything else and Tbf Halo Infinite Campaign and MP has been met with high praise so it has been a success in the end despite the big hurdles.

Monetisation is likely Microsoft too, it's always the business execs.

I think it's best for 343 to have some stability for now, Joe is leading Campaign, Pierre is leading Multiplayer and those were recent major changes, Halo Infinite is a "10 year project" so I would see how they do for the first few years, I mean, they'll have autonomy to run their specific teams how they want, if Joe is promoted to Bonnie's position then who takes over his position as Head of Campaign? I think we give this some time first or make Joe co-head so he isn't stretched too thin.

That is precisely the problem, the greed of corporations. Much like green_sky above, I'm pretty darn anti-communism/socialism and pro-capitalism, but even I see the greed of mega corporations is a huge issue. MS should be giving contract workers full benefits for the duration of their contract. And they should definitely be putting contract workers names into the credits for their games.

I mean sure? I am down for that. Or at the minimum have him run all of 343 as he seems more respected by the team and he is the one that helped right the ship after the E3 2020 demo.

Halo Infinite isn't the first Halo game to have developmental issues. I believe Bungie had to scrap most of the Halo 2 campaign less than a year before launch and had to crunch for many months straight to get it finished. And anyone who has played it knows how rough the Arbiter levels are and how bad most of the boss fights are.

Then pay contractors benefits after 18 months Not like Microsoft is hurting for money.

Or make an exception for their gaming studios cause this is absolutely hurting their gaming studios and will continue to hurt them.

Oh, sorry, misread what you said. I'm ok with Booty as head of XGS, he hasn't done anything I don't like so far at least, would only want to see him replaced if he gets Phil's job when Phil retires instead of Sarah Bond, in which case they will obviously need to fill Booty's vacant XGS head position, and Staten would be a good choice for that.

Bruh, those audio logs.
