Very easily actually.  If you think about the huge amount of code that goes into building a game, forgetting something like that can be very easy especially if you switched gears at some point during development.  This actually happen a lot in development where there is a lot of redundant code because development changed over time and developers forgot they even had that code in there because its not tied to anything anymore.

I totally understand that in a very general sense, but like...if you're releasing a build out for testing 4 months or so ahead of launch...and you know it's gonna be data mined, cus that's what people do...wouldn't you have someone go do it on your end ahead of releasing said build, to at least make sure you don't have story details in there?

I mean maybe you're like "fuck it" when it comes to hidden weapons, maps, armors, vehicles, ect....

But wouldn't you take some care to not let your whole plot leak? For a MP tech test?

Its million of lines of code.  Trust me, developers are human and they actually do not always think about those things.  You forget such projects can have hundreds of people working on different aspect of the game. It doesn't even make sense to have a text file with a plot summary in the files themselves so it sound like something someone was working on the plot during development which got added to the build and then totally forgotten when development shifted.  It probably was named something obscure and dumb and no one ever thought about it.  Shift and changes in development is when all kinds of stuff can happen which is probably what we see here.

Halo Infinite Spoiler Policy

Halo Infinite's Story has been datamined, as a result, the entire Story is (apparently; can't confirm for obvious reasons but better safe than sorry) out in the wild (Originated from 4Chan - Avoid that site), so I am enforcing these rules for Xbox Empire.

Rules

- You will NOT be allowed to discuss Halo Infinite Story spoilers in here from that datamine, even if you use a spoiler tag, I'm not allowing it full stop.

If I see any, I will erase your post entirely, if it was done as a simple mistake and spoiler tagged, I will give a verbal warning, if it happens again, I will Moderate you in the form of either a Ban or Thread Ban.

I'm confident I will know who does it accidentally because they missed this post and who is simply being a dick, I don't expect we'll have anyone posting just to be a dick but in case we do, this is their only warning, I will jump straight to a ban if I believe you're doing it to be a dick.

- You will NOT be allowed to link to the spoiler either or ask someone for a link in here, if you want to see it, go and find it yourselves.

- Only thing I'm allowing is being able to discuss the fact that it has spoiled and the disappointment of the situation.

I'm Shortcutting this post until Halo Infinite releases.

Do this for leaks for E3 2022 please :)

4Chan stay trash.

But I'm not saying they should remember all the code that might be floating around in their various builds. I'm asking why you wouldn't get someone within the team (or a temporary outsider contractor under NDA if need be) to data mine something like this for you, before you release it out into the world? I mean this test has been live for less than 24 hours, so...clearly these lines of code don't take that long to find if you're actively looking for stuff....so...if you're a dev...and you don't want your game ruined....look?

Honestly a lot of Halo infinite got leaked before, the grappling hook was known for years as an example.

I hope Ryuu doesn't get mad for me advertising again, but I am streaming some Halo Infinite on Twitch.

Where @DroidKnight at! Ready with his snapshot

Customizing the groin armor takes concentration.

Tuned in for a few games. Thanks for showing the sprint.

Looks like he's ready for the next level of bot difficulty.  Not too shabby.

Didn't get into the preview unfortunately, but I've been watching gameplay and it looks very promising!

Only thing I see, is that you got killed 3 times by the lowest level bots The rest is just decoration!
