The format still sucks, but the games presented were good.
Weird, I think the format is the best thing about it. Content isn't that good but I don't get disappointed cause I never expect much from these "state of plays." After all atm there just here to tide us over till they can finally reveal the PS5, which is where most of their current work is tied up.
What's wrong with the format? They just plow through the content instead of having a load of garbage in-between.
I think for me it's juat the overall look of the show. It doesn't look classy, or simple in its simplicity, or even just cool. Why game thumbnails are presented with this massive border or nothingness is just a bizarre design choice. The border also has nothing to do with anything. I also think the announcer lacks a certain energy.
The way I see it, I could just load up the trailers into a playlist and the effect would be the same. SoP should just feel more. Honestly, they should just look at that old gaming show Cybernet and use that as a base.
But don't get me wrong, I think the format can work and be a good companion piece to their conferences, but I don't think it's quite what it needs to be atm.
I'm not so worried about the games because it's a 20 min show. I'm not expecting major stuff to be shown all the time.
