Yeah my standards are too low for Shingeru Moyatoma Eclipse Mega X. Other than dragon penis and schoolgirl games, the libraries are pretty identical for the most part.

Huh? It has nothing to do with the userbase, its all about the money.
There is a giant difference between Epic Games Store and Steam yet Epic make these type of deals all the time.

Of course there's money involved. That doesn't diminish the fact that a publisher would much rather have the deal with Playstation than Xbox, that's why as we've seen time and again, Sony get's the marketing deals for the biggest, most hyped games, and MS has been making do with the leftovers. It was the opposite last generation where Xbox got their pick and Sony had to make do with the leftovers. There's also the facet that the cost for MS to get exclusivity is much higher than it is for Sony due to their installbase difference and money for Xbox division is tight.
Anyone who thinks MS is not doing these deals out of some sense of morality needs to get a reality check. This is the company responsible for the disturbing state of the gaming industry today.
This is part of business and it happened many times in the past (started by Microsoft and inherited by Sony). It is simple, if you care about COD survival mode, buy a PS4. I can see this even happening more and more in the future. I can see exclusive modes content in addition to DLC exclusivity.

Money > Userbase.
EGS gets games over who ever is the most popular and they will continue to get games no matter how big there competition is. That's business.
I cringe every time I read someone say "Well Xbox did it before so its okay if Sony do it now"
We use to burn woman alive at the stake if we believed they were witches, they did it back than so I guess its okay now. That's the logic on anyone who believes that is the correct way of thinking. Utter Nonsense. What is wrong to do is always wrong to do no matter who did it first and who does it last.

Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft are all for-profit businesses held accountable by shareholders who demand ever-increasing profits, if you think any of these companies cares about morality, then you are highly mistaken.
None actually give a crap about you as an individual consumer... So probably best you stop pretending ::Insert company of choice here:: does.
In saying that, all three companies have done some good for the industry as well... Microsoft for instance has worked extremely closely with all major graphics processing vendors in order to help define technology standards and techniques that are used in all games today, yes including the Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo helped pioneer motion controls and mobile gaming as a whole.
And Sony pioneered some very story driven games that have set some industry standards in game design and dual-analogue sticks, optical media... List goes on.
Each company has brought good/bad to the table and they all keep each other in check via the power of competition and choice.

They made the deal with Sony many years ago (with the COD franchise); they now have to honor the deal.....or face a lawsuit. It is quite simple why they did it.

Learn to read, bro. You can’t be upset about it because over a decade ago on this forum some Xbox guys that have likely been gone from this board for a decade supposedly gloated about 30 day map pack access to paid DLC. So you totally can’t complain about day one content being missing in your same $60 game. It makes complete sense and is the exact same scenario. |
I see where you're coming from, but it's not the same thing. You're talking about 30 day exclusivity on maps as opposed to year-long content being locked on one system, and not just map packs, but an entire game mode being locked on one system for a whole year, in which case, it might as well be full-on exclusive since the next CoD will already be out by the time it hits XB1 and PC.
But in any case, you can't blame Sony for this. It's Activision being greedy, everyone knows they don't need help making any of this timed-exclusive content, they're a fucking multi-$bil company. They could literally afford to make these games F2P with no microtransactions for years and still stay in business, but they do it, anyway because they try to get every last dime they can out of these games via milkage. If Sony doesn't accept these shady deals they offer them, then they'll go to MS and you know they'll accept it to try and get a leg up on the competition.

I was being sarcastic, no the situations aren’t the same.
And you can blame MicroSony any time they do one of these deals. You said Activision could run CoD F2P for years because they have tons of money, well MicroSony has tons of money too. Neither needs these deals but they make them. Sony signed this one for the same thing you said above about Activision, they’re a company looking for profit. Nothing more.
None of these companies are out there pumping out consoles for the fun of it. They’re all trying to make as many nickels as possible.

You can absolutely blame Sony for this deal as much as Activision. It's hard to say who is the one initiating the deals, but Activision isn't forcing Sony to do anything. Both are mutually agreeing to them. Activision and Sony had similar deals with Destiny, so they both know exactly what they are doing.
