Forums - Gaming - GTA 4 DLC pay $20 for episodes that give you 10 hours extra gameplay.

Ok, lets assume everything he is saying is true.

The complete GTAIV would mean all collectibles and everything. The missions etc that most people complete wouldn't be any more than 40 hours (about twice what it took me to finish Saint's Row's missions). So what this would mean is that you get another quarter of the game for a third of the price (assuming he is talking $US, if it's $AU then it is a sixth of the original price). By the time you have bought all the DLC for either 2/3 ($US) or 1/3 ($AU) the game's original cost, you have added 50% to the length of the game's storyline. Not bad at all.

Why would people who don't complete more than 40 out of 100 hours be the likely audience for buying more content?

No.  Count the game as, say, 75 or 80 hours rather than 100 if you want, and then do the math.  It's not a great or even a good deal, and August is so late that DLC won't stop people from buying that new PS3 console they've been eyeing to play GTA IV as their first game.

Sorry people its only a rumour here, lol. I have seen a lot of posts on other forum sites regarding this extra content.

I wonder if anyone is going to get the Downloadable Content for their XBox 360 GTA 4 game. First Episode is launched August 26 around the Saints Row 2 launch. Clever work Rockstar.

Take into consideration it will take you over 100 hours to fully complete the main quest and all the bonus missions and yeah there is the best part of the game.... its online with lots of multiplayer options that will destroy both COD 4 and Halo 3 as being most played online game.

BTW: Apparently the DLC is only timed exclusive to the XBox 360 and could appear on the PS3 for free. Maybe a Game of the Year edition of GTA 4 or included in GTA 5.

Considering the fact that Microsoft paid 50 million bucks for them to create that DLC there's not a snowball's chance in hell of it ever coming to the PS3.  Maybe the PS3 can get some future DLC that's unrelated to the 360 episodes, like horse armor or something, but nothing has been announced regarding that so all attempts at speculation are worthless.

Don't see why people are complaining about the price vs gameplay.

You paid full price for the 6 hours worth of heavenly sword, 6 hours worth of single player frontlines, 12 hours of assassin's creed (if you reallllllly stretched it) and the list goes on.

My only issue with GT5:P and why I wouldn't pay $50 (which is how much most shops sell it for here in Aus) is that it's a shadow to a future game, GTA4 additional content isn't part of something that you'll see later on, so comparing it to that is baseless (By the way, GT5 is a "sports" game which means there is technically infinite play value, another reason comparison is pointless).

I read in an unnamed article somewhere that there are actually going to be 5 episodic updates for the 360 version at $10 a piece but only two smaller updates for the PS3 version at $8 a piece.

I can tell you why CAL4MITY, they are biased and talking out of their ass. A lot of people nitpick things that happen on 360 but have nothing to say when something similar happens on PS3. Its the nature of the forums. The 360 catches the most flack on the forum but you wouldn't be able to tell by the constant and endless whining from owners of a certain Sony console. I call it Sony Selective Memory Syndrome or SSMS. Signs of SSMS are:

1. Complaining about paid exclusivity

2. Complaining about the competition stealing 3rd party franchises from Sony

3. Calling the 360 a FPS console when the PS3 has next to no JRPGs

4. Citing hardware failure as reason for supporting Sony inspite of the DRE and overheating issues of PS1, DRE of PS2, dead pixel and square button failures of PSP

5. Citing a future release a reason the PS3 will return domination then saying that very game is unimportant when domination doesn't occur

6. Deriding the competion for being unoriginal and copying while forgetting that is what Sony has down since they entered the industry

The question posed by the thread title is a valid question if it's worth it to people

The rest of the OP however is an utter failure.

==> I just want to give him a little lesson

==> yes but it is not about the 2 exclusive Xbox360 add-on.

It is just that in 2009, PS360 will both receive supplemental DLC BUT they will be different from the 2 exclusive Xbox360 add-on.
