It's as if Jim Ryan really wants PS5 to fail. Mass hard bundles (more official bundles, two games if necessary) should have been the answer to scalping but Sony's greed knows no bounds.

I'd be shocked if this doesn't affect sales. Microsoft is very clearly the good guy this time around. What a turn of events.

Edit: Brace yourselves for the "FIVE HUNDRED NINETY NINE DOLLARS" PSVR2.

So your solution to increased manufacturing costs is to compound the issue by bundling stuff together?

The situation is not ideal by any means, and Sony have clearly decided they don't want to eat the price themselves.

Sales are obviously going to be affected which is why you're seeing the hike mainly in markets Sony dominates over MS.

It is what it is, unfortunately.

Considering they are still sold out in all the markets I don't see sales really being affected by this 50USD price hike.

What VR studios do you think Sony should acquire? I would say:

- Camoflaj
- Polyarc
- First Contact Entertainment

Would be good fits under Sony.

I don't think most people would even care.

Maybe not the general public, but when it comes these hardcore forums, there will definitely be some discussion.

I agree, and since I like VR I would welcome Sony strengthening their front on it.

I feel like that's pretty much the list.

But I wouldn't be surprised if Sony mostly focused on getting devs that can make hybrid VR/TV games, similar to Resident Evil.

Yeah, I agree.

That's why I think a studio like Hello Games, as well as First Contact Entertainment, make sense for Sony to acquire (traditional gaming, VR, live service)

Agreed on these 3. Having smaller VR targeted studios would be a good thing.

I think Camo should be their priority.

1) mobile experience with Republique.

2) Hybrid experience with Republique VR.

3) Iron Man VR - good IP for Sony to keep using.

4) 2 studios, 1 is in Japan.

Oh, I didn't know Camoflaj had mobile experience under their belt.

If they are cheap enough I think Sony may buy even if teams experience is solely on VR.

Let's be real now, in the majority of these markets where Sony has increased the price of the PS5, Series X/S will still be getting outsold by a comfortable margin lol.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I feel it's not the smartest thing from a PR perspective (costs should be going DOWN, not UP.) Sure, they are clearly in high demand and can get away with it but it still looks bad.

What gets me the most is that the people laughing about it are almost uniformly Xbox folks. You know, the ones in America where the price isn't going up. When sony comfortably wins in virtually every other worldwide market. It's just so silly to me from every angle. sony is being stupid by hiking the prices, Xbots are being stupid by acting like this is the nail in the coffin, and everyone seems to be missing the fact that two years later you still can't find a PS5 but you can get an Xbox pretty much anywhere.

In most markets, that's how supply and demand works. Demand is up, so you raise prices. It's again, shitty capitalism at work, but consoles are a luxury item. I just don't understand all the people bitching about it like they don't understand the first thing about economics. And again, I still think it's a bad thing from a PR perspective, but it's not going to affect sales at all for the next year or so until the first price reduction or whenever a Slim/pro model comes out.

You'll probably be hearing/reading a lot of news about Destiny 2 today. One of the biggest events in Destiny is the day when a new raid launches. This is when Destiny is at its most "MMORPG" like. It's usually for a brand new raid that's part of a new expansion, but today is the return of a fan favorite raid from the first Destiny game.

This when there's raid races. To see what clan can finish the raid first. Since this is the return of an original raid, there's specific challenges that need to be completed to officially win first place, but Bungie is heavily involved in raid race day. Destiny 2 is currently number 4 most watched game on Twitch if anyone wants to tune in.

When it's a brand new raid, Destiny 2 goes to number 1 on Twitch.
