My friend got me to try the Crysis Trilogy on PS4. FPS is far from my fave genre but I have liked some games esp Sci-Fi themed or Doom/Wolfen. I'm late Crysis 2 atm and liked both games. I know 2 is a different game. After I finish 3 I plan to try Killzone Shadowfall. I know fans of the series hate it. I never played a Killzone before but this looked Sci Fi so for $10 I figured why not. Already completed Infinite Warfare and Titanfall 2. Doom and played Eternal plus all the Wolfen's (minus the one with the girls)

I got the Crysis Trilogy for $30 plus Shadowfall for $10 so $10 a game is a good deal to me.

I liked Shadow Fall more than the ones of PS3, but well I'm also not a FPS fan so that may have something to do with it.

General question for anyone to answer: what has been some of your favorite lead & supporting performances in a 2021 game? Even if its narrative isn't incredible, perhaps the acting talent polished it up a bit.

Hard to say since it involves both the VA as the char but I would say because of the game I really liked Jin and the antagonist, plus Ellie and Abbie.

Lady Dimitrescu from Resident Evil Village. Superb VA and perfect for the role. She's terrifying, yet motherly and endearing at the same time. Ethan Winters is pretty great as well. Actually the whole cast is pretty much on point.

But those were 2020 games.  I'm talking about 2021 games (newly released).  I'm just trying to get potential GOTY candidates and want to stack the pre-voting list with titles I haven't played yet.

Ow my bad, silly me.

Haven't played many 2021 games, so I guess I would need to give that to our lombax pair.

Anyone tried the Matrix UE5 demo? Surprisingly it allows you to explore the city by foot and car. Link below for people who want to check it out and don't have a PS5/Series console to try it on.

The tech in that game is quite insane and visuals look so good in the first scene. Same tech as in the previous demo - Their GI, Nanite, ray-traced shadows and reflections and lots of NPC's walking about and cars/density in a big open map is super impressive. The only thing that kills FPS is when physics come into play and you crash into other cars lol. Man.. if this and Hellblade 2 is any indication of the actual next gen visuals we're in for a treat!

Didn't have time last night. It's downloaded and waiting for me when I get home.

Valkyrie Entertainment are now part of Playstation Studios. It's a support studio of about 50 people that worked with them before.

I don't think we should be using this tech demo as anything more than it is.

It might look nice, but it also lacks a huge range of internal logic.

But I do think the likes of Horizon 2, Forza 5, and Hellblade 2 make strong cases.

Ofc it won't be 1 for one but these demo's are designed to show off the feature sets and the fidelity achievable in engine.

Take the Samaritan demo for UE3. Four years later we got Batman Arkham Knight which matches, and in some aspects exceeds the fidelity of the UE3 demo. And that was an in-engine cinematic. And UE4's first interactive demo was surpassed easily within the first few years.

Btw I'm not strickly talking about the cutscenes section but rather when you go into the next section. Where you are freely able to roam the city. This demo in a lot of respects is a probably a lot closer in what to expect to see in a real game, than their previous releases. And I don't see much that's not achievable by AAA developer given time and optimisation and what kind of scope they are aiming for. I'd go as far as to say we're already there with fidelity. If you have ever tried GTA games with mods it isn't far off, and the asset quality in a lot of those is insane.

Would like even more if they were used to bring sequel to loved IPs or even help remake PS1 best titles like syphon filter.
