You didnt address any point made. Here you assume everyone has thousands of dollars to spend on games, yet in another thread you're arguing that there are people in unprivileged positions that deserve a leg up.

The absolute derailment of the logic train is now complete.

Just pick a position and stick with it

It’s never acceptable to pirate a game no matter how you try to justify your crime. At the end of the day, playing a games is not a necessity of life and you should just not play it if you don’t want to buy it. Most older games are very easy to get and sale for a low price.

The excuse of pirating old game that are not redibly available doesn’t old up anymore with steam and large digital library. If you own a hard copy and get a rom of it on computer that the only acceptable loop hole since it’s not piracy since you own the product.

We should punish publisher that try to nick and dime consumers and try to abuse gamers with micro transaction and block everything behind an unacceptable pay wall. But, there way to many people that want every for free, enjoying content without ever supporting the content creator. If every one were to pirate their content there would be no more content or quality will take a heavy hit. I’m glad to see the end of second hand sales and can’t wait for GameStop, EB games & used game store all seize to operate. They are leashes of the gaming industry that doesn’t support initial content creators.

Thatll just push more people towards piracy.

Well I supported the wii u as much as I could with my budget. Bought like what 15 or so games for the console. The conversion rates make it that much harder for me since my family doesn't earn in us dollars they earn in a far weaker currency. So when I knew I was getting the switch and was never gonna buy another Wii u game as I needed the money for the new console, I pirated the hell out of that thing. Got as much fun as I could before saying goodbye, judge me as much as you want but I supported the company as much as I could and only played games I was never gonna buy anyways so it was either not playing them at all or a compromise: piracy

Why even punish them at all though? Why not instead help them get on their feet in the first place? And those aren't the only places to get games, there are many people with cell phones and that is one avenue to get games too. Yes, people don't need video games, but that could also just be reverted exactly around the other way: if video games aren't needed, why does it matter if people pirate them to the point that the companies cease to exist? As video games are not needed anyway it won't matter if more games aren't made.

Because justice should be the same for all and not based on people's socio-economic background. Surely as a communist that's something you can agree on, no?

As for the rest, if that's the argument you're making then why not take it further and go full on nihilist with it as well? The world doesn't need people, so if people aren't needed why does it matter if they starve and cease to exist? As people are not needed anyway it won't matter if more people aren't made.

As someone much wiser once said: there is a balance between mercy and justice. There shouldn't;t be so much mercy that you can get away with anything lest civilization goes into chaos and there shouldn't be so much justice that you are reprimanded for every mistake you make and you try to do the right thing and fumble but justice just puts you down again so you can never get to a point where you can help society and that causes civilizations to go into chaos. There should be a balance between mercy and justice.

Everything is ok if you don't hurt someone.

You mean physically? Like physically "Pirate - steal" someone’s games?

Pirates copy strings of 1s and 0s. So yes, what they are doing might be ok, depending on your ethics. Most of the time pirates literally don't hurt anyone because they didn't intend to pay money in the first place. And sometimes pirating is even beneficial. So I would reject opinions that regard every instance of piracy as bad.

It's actually quite similar to the second hand market, which is universally regarded as a positive thing(discounting publishers). It's a curious thing.

Let me get this straight.  You seem to think these two scenarios are equal.  And that I must accept B because I accept A.

A. Poor people need social support systems to live.

B. Poor people should pirate all games.

Rol, you can come out now.  Bravo on the trolling but it's getting ridiculous now.

Not if you give everyone a good platform that they can get any game for a decent price. Piracy will always be a problem. If your a fan of the media it's up to us to avoid piracy.

Lets say poor person A has $1000 a month to spend. He spends $800 on rent, $200 on food and $100 on games. He's now $100 in debt. Your solution is to give him $100 in assistance which he will probably just spend on games as well. You would have a better result if you just gave him the $100 in games free so he wouldnt need assistance.

Why would a poor person spend $800 per month on rent? Most persons I know (which aren't poor) spend a lot less on rent.
