Unless of course you have a 3840x1440, 2560x1600, 2560x1440, 2560x1080 etc' display... Then the Xbox One X will only output at 1920x1080. |
Oh, that sucks.
Is that an issue with the game, or is that just how the XxX handles things?

It hasn't hogged that much from my system before 1.0 landed. I was playing at 80+ fps on high settings, with only textures and AA set to ultra. I've yet to test the game now that I've downloaded 1.0 and Nvidia's game ready driver for the game. I'll probably test it either later on tonight or tomorrow after work. |
Understood from your experience the game is this heavy because of the complexity or bad optmization of the code?

It is a little bit of both.
It is certainly a CPU hog on a couple of cores, with less utilization on the others.
GPU utilization is a little on the lighter side, which means it's not showing what a Radeon RX 580/Xbox One X class GPU can really do.

Perhaps on the lack of optimization MS can help them for the full game release and have they utilizing X1X power the best way.

They have. Microsoft got RARE and The Coalition to assist with the porting and developing of the game.
Rare assisted with the water technology that they had developed for Sea of Thieves... And The Coalition are masters at the Unreal Engine.
It shouldn't have the issues it has.
Still with the 1.0 update things have improved... But there is still a massively long way to go.

Still as a preview it had little time for it. Maybe for the final release they'll have a lot more support and improvements.
