“console exclusive for 2017” imo.

In it it says "launch exclusive" whatever that may mean.

As long as it is console exclusive to X1 I don't see a problem writing "console exclusive" on everything.

Launch exclusive means at launch on console's, its only there.

But that implies its going other places too at some point.

The question is just if its half a year down the road? a full 1year?

Remember MS's E3 presentation when they said they had "40 exclusives" or something like that?
Probably their interpretation of words again.

They said 42 games, not exclusives

I was refering to this:

"Xbox showcased a record 42 games in its briefing including 22 with console exclusivity"
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1389720

Turns out the 22 games they labeled "console exclusive" were actually "timed exclusive".
So what I was thinking of wasn't just a simmilar occurance, but exactly the same.

For Microsoft, Console Exclusive = Timed Exclusive.

So "launch exclusive" gives us an exact estimate between 1 day and 500 years of exclusivity. What a helpful descriptor.

I don't get what the OP is supposed to say? You're saying they're saying it's a console exclusive but at the same time saying that they haven't said that yet? Well... have they said that or not?

Naw man. If you click the link the game package says "console exclusive" which is deceptive as fuck. Hes asking is it really or is it just deceptive marketing. If it was console exclusive they would have blasted that shit everywhere hence his confusion.

Questions fine

At E3 they clearly said launch exclusive.

I find it funny how people get all confused/upset when MS uses the term launch exclusive for these games but when Sony showcases a ton of indies/digital titles as console launch exclusive no one seems confused or angry.

It's pretty simple. It's going to launch on Xbone first and be exclusive for awhile, then will come to PS4.

But now they're saying "Console Exclusive". Which means they're using two different terms for the same game.

You don't see the problem in using different terms to mean the same thing, and for the same game? There's nothing "pretty simple" about that.

Not to mention changing the meaning of terms. At E3 they also used the term "Console Exclusive" to describe games that were "timed exclusive".
No one asked Microsoft to redefine what "Console Exclusive" means. It seems people forgot about that E3 presentation, and now they're confused.

And no, this is in no way equivalent to Sony saying "console exclusive debut" because they included the term "debut".
Microsoft are omitting that term.

Whether it's a console exclusive, Early access exclusive or what ever I don't know but looking at games that have the "Xbox One console exclusive" tag they have remained that way like Quantum Break, Recore, Gears 4, Forza Horizon 3, Forza 7, Halo Wars 2 and In comparison Dead Rising 4 and Rise of Tomb Raider never had the "Xbox One console exclusive" tag which were both 1 year timed exclusives.

Quantum Break, Recore, Gears 4, Forza Horizon 3, Forza 7, Halo Wars 2 were built from the ground up by Microsoft.

That is very very much not true for PUBG.  It has been out and as you can even tell from the packaging has 15+ million on PC.

  • Deadliest mass shooting by an individual in US history (10/01/2017)
  • Deadliest high school shooting in US history (02/14/2018)
  • Deadliest massacre of Jews in US history (10/27/2018)
  • Political assassination attempt of TWO former presidents(and 10+ other people)  (10/23/2018 - and beyond)

The stage is ripe for someone to clown the industry over the obvious 'exclusive' verbal sleight of hand. Maybe Devolver Digital will do it next year. "This will be what we like to call a 'timed generational console launch exclusive,' ONLY AVAILABLE on modern gaming platforms until sometime next gen when we add three new textures to a port and CALL IT AN HD REMASTER, now THAT'S MODERN GAMING FOLKS! You can actually preorder this special unique system-defining gem, as well as the future HD remaster, RIGHT NOW SO ****ING GIVE US THE MONEY, PLEBES!"

Mate no one is changing the meaning of the words.

What is a console Exclusive? A game that is exclusive to a console. When PUBG launches for X1, how many other consoles is it launching for?

Its exclusive until otherwise.

Why is that so hard for some to grasp.

This explains the whole mess rather well. Unless PUBG is now only going to appear on the XBO in the console realm, this is just another slimey move, in an ongoing series of slimey moves from MS. Nobody does it better, or at the very least, as often.
