Didn't really expect debates to spring up in this thread.

I mean, at least the conversation is interesting.

True but it was a little unexpected.

Exactly. I guess some people don't undertand that funimation is an american distribution company that handles anime. It has nothing to do with the production of anime. I agree that sony probably did it for streaming and for when funimation's deal with universial on dvd distribution runs out, sony will take over that.

How production of anime works is that japanese television networks will be the one's to pay the studio and get licensing (if their adapting an existing IP) rights from publisher of the source material to broadcast it ...

You're just being overly literal. Funimation is a distribution company that distributes anime to parts of the west and sometimes has a few anime dubbed in english. It has nothing to do with the actual production (the creation process itself or financing of the creation) of anime.

It was just a tid bit, I ain't being confrontational ...

Did anyone else assume Funimation was worth more than $143 million? It seems like chump change for a company like Sony and yet Funimation is such a huge name in anime is it not?

how big is the anime-market in the USA and europe ?
i have many anime blu rays = )
